questions on Mazda Speed bodykit

i currently own a rx8 and using the standard bodykits. i was just wondering what are the differences between the replica version of the mazda speed bodykit and the original ones? does it look exactly the same? will it fit well? is the quality okay? obviously the price difference is a factor, thats why im considering a replica. thanks for advice mates

You get what you pay for for sure. The genuine kit is hands down 1000x better then any replica. I have the geniune kit and it looks like i just drove off the lot with it. Its fits perfect and came perfectly painted. It doesnt get any better then that.

what the... all replicas need modifying, as simple as that. some more then others so if you want to pay less now and more later with a mediocre quality when done rather then more now and less later with a perfect quality be my guest.

i found out the hard way.

I just installed my authentic MS bumper this weekend and it was a breeze. Fitment was perfect and better than stock! The gap between the hood the bumper was lessened. I used to be able to see a white clip in front of the side marker area, but not with the new bumper, it hugs it even tighter! I say do it right the first time and get the authentic.

as much as i agree with the guys here on the Forums about buying the real deal, I have purchased a replica and it fit just fine, fitment was great and trust me it looks like it rolled right off the lot with the kit on it.

If you are going to buy a replica, do a search and look for a few decent brands that back there quality. I myself purchased a VIS Kit, which is a good company and have been around for a while.

I would be weary of the ebay stuff though... I wouldnt exactly go that cheap.

I see many replica MS front bumpers on this forum that are missing the rebar cover (the black plastic bit on the top-inside part of the mouth, just over the wire mesh area. So I don't think the replicas of that come with it. Also mazda does not sell that part, so you can't get the replica then buy it.

Mine came with it, but it was a plastic cover that covered the rebar behind the mesh, not infront of it. To be honest I actually prefer it that way. it looks better to me than it outside infront of the mesh.

I haven't seen any replicas with the air cooler ducts, either.

just buy the real thing, it came painted, so you could put it on yourself. save time, money, and hassel.

^agreed

if you buy high quality parts then you don't have to worry about little things like fitment or correct colors.

If you're buy fake, you're going to have to be very conscious of the quality and fit. Caveat emptor.
