For those who have gotten their MS springs/shocks installed at the dealer, how much did it cost?

I know the parts (just springs/shocks) run just over 600, and my dealer quoted me 480 for the install. so add it up, and its over 1K all said and done....

I did a search, but couldn't find a definitive answer, so I'd love to hear the variations (if any) in cost to get this installed, either from a dealer, or at a reputable shop.

For those who installed themselves - i wish I could, but live in a condo and can't really lift up the car to do it, nor am I skilled in installing this type of stuff...

600 sounds pretty good for the shocks and springs, I think retail is actually more than that. 480 may be a little high but it is about a 4 hour job and 100 bucks an hour is right at 400 plus maybe some material costs or whatever they always tag on.

I put a set of MS springs on last weekend but I went with the Koni sports since I autocross and prefer the adjustability. Took myself and another local member here about 5 hours and we were taking our time. We just used hand tools and a floor jack/jack stands as well so it's definetely do-able if you can borrow a friends garage and have some basic hand tools.

if a shop has done an install on an 8, then they should know how to estimate their shop hours. The fronts are very simple/straight forward....but the rear requires removal of many items and takes much more time. I would estimate a 3-4 hour shop tab....so whatever the shops charges per hour should be a good base to gauge estimates.

480 seems a bit high....but then again, dealerships have much more overhead to deal with, salaries and such...so, just go with a local shop in your area that has done work on other 8's and you should be fine.

have you called PBC Automotive in Chantilly and asked for a labor quote? They specialize in Mazdas if you don't know already.

My dealership quoted me $950. I think around 1k would be pretty standard.

Sounds about right that's what my dealer quoted me. I suggest having your dealer and this is why. You may save $200 or so if you have a local shop do it but the parts will only be warranted for 1 year. Since the MS suspension is a blue level warranty if your dealer installs them then they are warranted for the full life of your new vehicle warranty which I believe is 4 years. So if you have more than 1 year left on your vehicle warranty I would take that route, if not then just have another shop do it. My car is only one years old so I'm having the dealer do it, having an extra 3 years in warranty is a good thing.

I have an 04- but got the extended warranty- Im leaning towards having the dealer do it, cause i've had great work done there thus far, and the job would be warrantied, but of course if PBC can do it for real cheap I'll weigh my options then-

My dealership marked everything way up. I dont remember how much for the suspension but they wanted somthing in the range of about $900 for the mazdaspeed sides, 900 for the rear and over $1600 for the front bumper. I bought all my mazdaspeed stuff online at Online Mazda Parts ( http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=AccessoryCatalog&siteid=214264&catalogid=3987&categoryid=78671&subcat1=78682&startrow=6 ) I think they have Shocks and Springs for $636.

Trademotion is better beacause shipping is free for anything over $100 so you save about 10 bucks over finishline.
