the back of the Mazda RX-8 factory deck have a way to hookup a sirius unit? portable, stilleto, etc... I would prefer not to have to replace the deck, as the RX-8 radio really goes well with the whole interior fengshua(sp?)/look of the RX-8...

I have factory Sirius and would never go without the steering control so I can't help you.
Do a search in the audio section. May take some reading but you will find a handfull of solutions along with saving time and money. Good luck.
