Has the media caught on and reported the Mazda mistakes / buy back/ compensation to the mass yet?

i remember seeing a one page artical on the 8 (marketing/hype kinda artical) on LA times the day mazda "sends out the letters"

anyone seen anything else?

USA today and just about every other news source with an auto section.... Do a google or yahoo search and you'll get plenty of hits.

Yep it made the national news, I seem to recall there was an article in USA Today on Wednesday 9/3 give or take a day. I didn't save the paper, but it was "public" because others were telling me about it, knowing I had recently purchased an RX8.

It's kinda funny, but it doesn't seem to have been that big of a deal to anyone. They mention it, and move on.

everyone I tell about the issue is like "you have a brand new car 500 bucks and free service, nice I deliberately kept quiet about it at work (where almost everyone knows I've got the 8...and that I spend alot of time at work on the rx8club site:p ). It wasn't until two weeks ago that one of the other car nuts at work finally came up to me and said he had read something about the hp shortage and the free maintenance. He thought it was a great deal.

What I don't like in the mis-information these other people get from FRESH ALLOY. One of my cow-workers was asking me about the "recall" due to engine FAILURE!!!!!!!!???? He said the recall is listed on the nhtsa.gov website.

BS! No such recall, but he was sure it was true because FRESH ALLOY is a "trusted" source for info.

Oh yeah R I G H T! Like I should believe everything said on this forum about the 350Z????

You guys are lucky in the USA. In the UK the power is down to around 130bhp but ther is no cash +/- free service for us. Probably because we are less likely to sue than you. I've written to Mazda UK about this racial discrimination but dont hold out any hope.

Agreed. I would say 95 percent of the US population has no idea this issue even came up. 4.99 percent know about it and think it's a good deal for the '8 owners. The remaining 0.01 percent habitate this forum and bitch and whine about it.

Exactly Mike

That is what I get too. I mention it first and they either don't know about it or say, "yeah I heard something about that. What's 9 horsepower anyway?"
