Have any of you found a flaw in this locking device? This would be a great alternative in locking the car. Basically locking the brakes(AT), locking the clutch(MT).

EDIT:Sorry MODS :p

Remember, a professional car thief can defeat any anti-theft device, whether it's an alarm or add on item. All we can do is try to protect our babies' from the common crook, not the professional.
Never seen that device before though. Looks interesting, but a pain to use everyday.

i use to have one...i lost it somewhere in the garage, lol.

it is a pain to take on and off, but it seems to really lock the brake/clutch really good.

if your that worried, theres no harm in getting it :)

Here's the actual site for that autolock:

Unbreakable Autolock (http://www.unbreakable.com/)

I had one of the first one's they released. Worked fine for about two-three years before the lock stopped working - I couldn't get the key to unlock it but luckily I got it off. Now it doesn't work.

Though this seems like I'm advising against getting one, I'm not. As soon as my 8 comes in, I'll be getting the chrome model. I'm sure that they got whatever bugs worked out by now. However, if I notice the same thing occuring to the new model, I'll just stop using it.

IMO, it was really easy to use, just slide it onto the brake and pull up on the club portion of the lock. Thats it. There are two possible problems that you should be aware of (other than my experience with the key/lock):
1 - the size/weight - this sucker is heavy when compared to The Club. Also, when installing it you need to be careful not to scratch up your interior.
2 - Will it fit on an 8? There is a small chance that it's not compatible -I think there's a list of cars on the main site. Not sure about the 8. Since I still have my old (broken)autolock, I'll test the fit on 8 before I purchase a new one.

For the ultimate in protection, I also purchased one of these:
Auto Tazer (http://www.bow-gun-hunting-sports.com/autotaz.htm)
Unfortunately, the Tazer corp stopped producing them so I think they are now very hard to find. I always wanted to "test" it but never had the guts to grab it.

Maybe its just me, but in order to stop them with this they would have already broke in the car. (Unless you are dumb enough to leave it unlock). Better to stop them before they break in. I favor many of the Hi Tch electronic solutions (lo jack + security systems and the like). Just some different input for ya.

mmjames: for this type of AutoLock, when you place it on your brake or clutch pedal and pull up, it locks automatically. The only way you could leave it "unlocked" is if you didn't pull up on the handle.

IMO, this autolock should be used with a car alarm. I look at it like double protection - my car will have a visual (club) and electronic (alarm/immobilizer) deterrents. Again, a professional can get into anything; however, I'll still feel safer with TWO forms as opposed to one.

I'm sorry ... You misunderstood me. I meant if you have this on the car then it will protect it from someone already sitting in your car trying to steal the car. In this case the glass would have been smashed, stereo gone, and other parts taken. Well maybe.... it could happen.

In short if the goal is not to steal the car outright, and just take the parts, then how will this device stop that?

Ahhhhh. Now I understand what you meant. Gotcha!

Yeah, you're correct but I guess that's the good thing about our 8s: unless someone makes an aftermarket kit, no one will be after out stock stereos, etc. (or at least, I don't think they would)

Now, if the car owner was to just leave personal items out in the open, the alarm and the club wouldn't stop a thief....

my last car was stolen so the first thing I got was lo jack early warning on my 8
