Big Dave, you will be sorely missed by all the Rotary folks. God Speed dude to the tuner shop in the sky. N rider89 01-30-2007, 08:47 PM RIP man rotarygod 01-30-2007, 09:26 PM Holy crap! Wow. I'm speechless. RIP Dave. brillo 01-30-2007, 09:30 PM I've spoken with him many times over AIM, don't know what to say, I'm stunned. Prayers for him and his family and the other women. rotarygod 01-30-2007, 10:00 PM Here's some info off of the 7forum: Dave had a momo steering wheel with no airbag, the driver seat was an RX8 seat with NO seatbelt, and his front end had NO bumper support. His car must have crushed like a soda can. This really disturbs me. I see info like this on the 7 forum all the time. Many of them remove the heavy bumper underneath the nose for a weight savings. Many of them remove the heavy metal bracing under the dash for a weight savings and usually justify it by saying that they don't plan on getting in a wreck. No one does! This is why you don't do mods like that!!! Too many people do. Please use common sense when modding your car. Don't alter or remove safety equipment for obvious reasons. Here's an eyewitness account: "Hi to you all. I just wanted to give you the info I experienced first hand. My sons and I were traveling down the hill this a.m. The older white mazda was traveling at a high rate of speed. He passed us. Three to four seconds later he lost control and we witnessed him cross over and hit the female driver of the white saturn coupe. It was one of the worst things I have ever experienced. The driver of the mazda died at the scene. The female driver of the saturn was air lifted. My heart and prayers are with all of the family members on both sides. Please ask your friends and family members to slow down...." It's really sad. Dave was a really nice guy but he messed up. We all do from time to time. Removal of safety equipment combined with overly aggressive driving caused this. Please be careful when you drive and use common sense. Luckily the lady in the other car wasn't killed but she was airlifted out of there in critical condition and she had an airbag and seatbelt. Don't let this happen to you or anyone else around you. Drive save, drive smart, and use common sense. Mod your car in a safe way too. We don't want to see this happen again. This is tragic. RIP buddy. Jedi54 01-30-2007, 10:54 PM OMG!! Requiescat In Pace. rotarygod 01-31-2007, 01:16 AM The Funeral will be held this Saturday 2/3/07 at 11:00am The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 3860 Waterman Ave. San Bernardino, CA 92404 Everyone is welcomed to come. Many RX-7 people will be there. MazdaManiac 01-31-2007, 02:09 AM What a f*cking waste. We all think we are invincible. No matter how modest we might be or how carefully we proceed, in the back of our minds we will believe that somehow, we will prevail should we falter or take a misstep. Sometimes, we won't. Dave screwed up. We all do, but he paid for it immediately. Don't let this be for naught: Live each day as it could be your last - but don't seek to make it so. BigOLundh 01-31-2007, 03:41 AM everything about this is so incredibly sad. the loss, the circumstances behind the loss.. just sad. The best that can come out of this is for everyone to take a step back and proceed with caution. I dont want to see another thread like this anytime soon. -hS Gambit 01-31-2007, 09:05 AM damn, it's horrible seeing stuff like this rest in peace WaitingforFI 01-31-2007, 10:15 AM RIP..... R.I.P. buddy. brillo 01-31-2007, 11:36 AM They are taking donations for Dave's funeral costs over at RX7club via paypal for those interested. rotarygod 01-31-2007, 11:47 AM Here's a little more info on the wreck. It is estimated that Dave was doing about 60 mph at the time of the collision. I have no idea how fast the other car was going. On a canyon road in a Saturn maybe 30-35 mph or so. I don't know. We do know that Dave was speeding though so it's pretty safe to say that she was going slower than he was. Add those up though. That's a lot of speed. They each hit each other on the left front corner so all of the impact was on the driver's side of each car. Damn, I'm sad describing that. I had to clean out my girlfriend's sister's car after she was killed in a head on over a year ago and this brings back some memories. The lady in the other car is named Tamara McAdams. She is 22 years old. She is at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Many of the RX-7 people are trying to get a hold of her family too to give them apologies and condolences. BunnyGirl 01-31-2007, 12:05 PM Do you know if they are setting up a fund for her medical expenses? It's things like this that worry me, especially when we went on our run on Sunday. Everyone speeds on the winding roads and you never know what's going to happen. I never feel comfortable driving anywhere near as fast as the rest of the group, so I don't (although I still drive much faster than I normally would and think I should), and I always get separated from them. It's one of those things that definitely makes me think I shouldn't be doing it anymore, unless I am on a track that is made for high speeds. I could very easily be this story, and it's so sad and senseless. :crying: rotarygod 01-31-2007, 12:11 PM I know they are for his but I think it would be even more appropriate if there was one for her. Who knows if any of this will change her permanently? No one knows what her condition is. It's a miracle that she lived through this at all. TheBri 01-31-2007, 12:33 PM This is extremely sad to read about. What's even more sad is to read about the modifications he made to his car that removed safty features. No one ever plans on getting in an accident but that's no excuse. Even the best driver in the world is not safe on public roads because there are other people that can easily hit you or do something stupid. This really sucks. :( Here's a little more info on the wreck. It is estimated that Dave was doing about 60 mph at the time of the collision. I have no idea how fast the other car was going. Wow. ~90MPH collision on the driver's side. It's a miracle she wasn't killed instantly as well. Hopefully she makes a full recovery and suffers no life-long problems because of this. rotarygod 01-31-2007, 12:36 PM Here's a bit of hopeful news from her friend: The girl driving is a dear friend of mine and is in pretty bad shape. Its gonna take a lot of time but she will recover, she was talking and in good spirits. On behalf of her family and all of her friends. THANK YOU for your thoughts and prayers. TheBri 01-31-2007, 12:38 PM Any idea what the extent of her injuries were? brillo 01-31-2007, 12:40 PM sounds like she is going to recover from the RX7club, which is good. I'm sure it will be a long recovery, but if the Hamster could pull through his crazy wreck, I'll feel optimistic about her chances. Hopefully she has no permanent injuries as a result. Apparently they are. Here is a message from a guy that worked with Dave: ok.... donations started for tamara.... the other party involved in the accident..... I actually got all the info we needed from the Loma Linda Medical Center. Loma Linda Medical Center Care of Tamara McAdams unit #8200 11234 Anderson St Loma Linda, Ca 92354 It would be great if we could start a thread for donations towards some type of flower arrangement and card. I would be more then willing to take on the task of calling a flower shop and sending her something. I will donate the first 20 bucks from my paypal account and accept donations to chris.moore@sage.com This is a good cause guys. Maybe next time she see's an Rx7, she wont just think about the accident but about a group of enthusiasts who cared enough to reach out to her. so far we have $90.. but we need more... we are gonna buy flowers and give the rest in the form of a check to the family..... RedSheDevil 02-01-2007, 09:17 AM omg, so sad. my thoughts and prayers go out to both families. Hornet 02-01-2007, 11:08 AM This is just shocking! I also found out to my disbelief that she is not doing as good as I previously thought..... She has to learn how to walk all over again..... She is wheelchair bound for a while... We plan on giving Tamara the donation check at Dave's funeral..... Right now we are at around $300... and we are still taking donations.... She needs help more than ever.. so if anyone is up for donations... please do so! She will be out of work for a while and I'm sure the money will help her w/ bills HolyCross05 02-02-2007, 12:59 AM This is the saddest thing i've read since I joined this community. My prayers are both with dave's family and tamara. Xyntax 02-03-2007, 07:31 AM RIP to a great member of our community and my prayers to Tamara and her family. I have been coming back to my old ways of driving again, but this made me rethink this mood. I have been out of the scene for awhile because of medical reasons. Now that I am back, I'm sticking with safe driving first. All the mods and skills I have acquired, I will be thankful when it saves me from disaster--not cause one. chrism 02-03-2007, 07:52 AM damn.....rip nycgps 02-03-2007, 08:25 AM Damn ! shit .....
