My boss has a ps3 and wii.

the ps3 was fine, but the wii kept crashing. It turns out the ps3's vent fans were blowing hot air into the wii, and it wasn't designed to take that amount of heat...

My 360 works like a charm and I got it right after the release. Just lucky I guess.

$599 for a 60 GB PS3 with wireless and built in Blu-ray....

Spent $399 for a premium 20 gb xbox 360 ... $199 hd dvd drive and $100 wireless adapter....$698 total on my system...got it this summer....the bugs should of been worked out...fried on me after 2 hours of playing....

So not only is the PS3 a better deal...but it actually works to....

Got mine in the first batch and leave it on reserve 24 hours a day! With one stint of 14 hour gaming straight :rock: and never has it ever even felt sluggish or overheated

yea not one issue with the ps3 yet like i had with the 360. It found the internet itself i signed on, i was able to easily download content and play some worthwhile games within minutes without owning a game. It plays movies beautifully. Its a very good product and for those of us who arent making up excuses and can simply afford life's pleasures it delivers. It is worth the money I paid for and it will only get better as its life cycle goes on from infancy. im getting a wii as soon as i find one, but the ps3 is great for now.

only one issue...can't plug in a ps2 controller yet so that i can consolidate systems (still not done ffXII)

Your XBOX 360 failed, or your HD-DVD drive failed? If you are saying that you bought all this last summer and it died after two hours of use, I'm forced to call BS.

The HD-DVD drive wasn't released until November, so how in fact did your entire system die during the summer? Did you leave your 360 unused in the box until November while awaiting the HD-DVD drive? I purchased my 360 at launch (and the HD-DVD at launch as well), and they've both worked flawlessly.

And no, I'm not a 360 fanboy...I purchased a PS3 as a couple days before Christmas. When I realized it was a $500 brick with no games I wanted to play, I decided to return it and pick up a Wii instead. My wife (who HATES video games) and my kids are all hopelessy addicted to Wii Sports. I'll revisit the PS3 if and when some decent software is available, but for now, I think I made the right choice.

I've had my 360 since last january and had no issues.
I was really surprised when i went to best buy yesterday that there were a ton of PS3's just sitting around.
My biggest complaint about the PS3 isn't the price, it's the architcture.
I just don't care for the cell architecture and the developers really don't either. Go look up John Carmack's interview and he explains it pretty well. The system is a pain in the ass to develop for.
Beyond that, sony made a mistake with their decision to force developers to implement their own online support (again), rather than centralizing online support like xbox live.
And then there's the fact that there's just no game compelling enough to make me want to buy a PS3 that I can't get on the 360.

Oh well.
I'm happy with my 360 and I'll buy a PS3 when there's a reason, if ever.

Who the F uses blu-gay..er...I mean blu-ray anyway? Rumor has it that the blu-ray technology may not even become mainstream. Anyone here remember the "laser disc" movies from the early to mid 90's? Those things were supposed to be the wave of the future.....until people realized that they were the size of small UFO's and froze up all of the time.

My personal role models Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb said that the gameplay and graphics associated with the PS3 weren't very impressive.

Even the freakin New York Times reported that the PS3's gameplay and interface were a complete disappointment. Look it up, bros.

ps3's are having heating issues same as xbox - with tech that high your failure rate increases - it is the same for pc's - as more and more get out there more issues will arise - fact of tech like this - that is what manu warranties are for - I had an xbox since launch - no issues - I finally had an issue with it and m$ replaced it - they also gave me a free game and free wireless controller for my trouble - :D

I had the some issue with an asus motherboard and that in no way detracts from how badass my board is - every equip has some kinda failure rate - what they will do with the brokens is the question - m$ replaces - I love my 360 - I would buy a ps3 but nothing really has me wanting it - so i am waiting - I do not like having to buy a blu-ray either - it is there cause sony wants to win a format war and stop piracy - not cause it was better for games....I think that is silly - meanwhile where my xbox did not play burns - m$ actually opened the 360 up to play everything - I can even stream divx with a home brew app - that is the diff of catering to the customer vs working a customer to your own ends - I encourage competition - I just am waiting until something good comes for the ps3. just my two cents - if any game is good online let me know - I have not heard one report of any online game yet by anyone I know - :(

Well apparantly some people are buying Blu-Ray discs....since they are starting to outsell HD-DVD....

Not to mention only Warner, Paramount and Universal support HD-DVD....while Warner, Paramount, Fox, Disney, Sony, MGM and Lionsgate all support Blu-Ray...

Also Apple is backing the Blu-Ray....I call win win ...who cares is HD-DVD gets porn ....

COmplete Dissapointment? Well these are launch titles...watch the second wave of games come in...will blow the socks off ((ok maybe not)).....but will definately outshine the 360

GT:HD is available for download for free on the ps3 and GT5 will be coming out sometime next year. GT4 also seems to be enhanced for the PS3 which is great.

wow so resistance is lame. been playing it up here at work since we just got a ps3. terrible. It's ugly, the AI is retarded, the weapons are weak, and the lighting is from 1983.

I actually like Resistance a lot. Some parts of the storyline and weapons are very strange. I don't like the fact you literally win the whole war by yourself and can carry all the weapons at once. However, the fun-factor for me is up there.

since there are so many ps3's out there I was really tempted to buy one this weekend, but I have decided to wait to find a Wii that is in stock.

PS3 is just too expensive for a game system right now. I like playstation and will probably buy one eventually, but I will wait for Sony to work some bugs out and the price drops. I have read a couple articles online regarding the PS3 internals burning up and then a woman that I work with told me her son's burnt up a couple weeks after having it. While I'm sure this isn't happening to everyone I still would rather wait on something that is that expensive.

Chr1s, thanks for posting that about Resistence, that was the game that currently is making me want ps3.

As for launch titles, From what I can remeber, Every system launches with a small number of games that only a few people like and they get better from there. I think it is way to soon to say a system sucks because of the games they make for it.

my ps3 just sits there right now while my xbox360 gets a lot of play, mainly rainbow6 and gears of war multiplayer. :) i do have superman and italian job on blu-ray and they rock hehe.
it was like this last year for xbox360 too, very few good games during lunch. xbox360 really took off this holiday, i expect the same game wise for ps3 next xmas...

btw GranTurismo HD concept is sweet as hell, even the inside of cars are modeled now and Ferrari is finally on board.

serriously put down the haterade man, most systems have always put out 90% crap and only a few games worth playing/buying. I'm looking forward to about 3 or 4 PS3 games and am keeping up to date on anything that hasnt been announced. Same exact story with the 360there are only a few im excited about the rest is just filler.

BTW, PS3 launch wasnt that smooth. Remember the patch first thing out of box? and there WAS a group of PS3's burning out cause of overheating.

A nephew got one on x-mas and he doesnt play it at all. He's all into GoW and R6: Vegas. I still hope to find a Wii someday. PS3 left me completely underwelmed.

And also dtorre, your list of studios supporting Blu-ray vs HD-DVD is missing a few studios for HD-DVD. Better research next time can help you not look like a fanboy.

I agree with you. I didnt even buy a 360 until July '06. The Wii is the only one that I did wanna buy on or near release, although i am not gonna pay the vultures on ebay extra for one. I'm just saying the PS3 launch was no better than the 360's

i remember at this point last year xbox360 was terrible, there was no games I wanted... a lot of games looked like xbox games, some looked worse than xbox games. It was terribly underwhelming.. but look at it now, its got quite a bit of great games and its really coming into its own. Looking at the release list of PS3 games in development, I expect it to be doing very well content wise by this time next year.

no one is going to deny that xbox360 has the better library at the moment, but people seem to forget just how crappy it was for the 360 a year ago. Im just glad I have both systems, and if wii starts to get decent games that I actually want (sorry but im sick of the same zelda game over and over), ill get that too.

Also, God of War 2 is coming out in march, and will probably be the last huzzah for the ps2.

And yes, Zelda is amazing. 10/10. A complete masterpiece and definitely one of the best games I've ever played. I'd wait to play it on the wii though, the controller does make it more fun. :)

It's to mirror the way most people hold the wiimote, which is in the right hand. Link has traditionally held the sword in his left hand.

God of War 1 was the first game I have ever completed all the way through. I love that game. God of War 2 is gonna rock and I can't wait to pick it up.
