Hey all, just some info about NASA and the schedule that they will be running this year in the Midwest region.

April 28-29 • Iowa

May 19-20 • Putnam (crossover)

June 30-01 • MidAmerica Motorplex

July 21-22 • Autobahn

August 4-5 • Road America

Sept 8-9 • Gingerman (HPDE Only)

October 8 • Autobahn (full track)

October 20-21 • Road America

Personally I will be trying to run both Road America events, as well as both Autobahn events, with a maybe on Gingerman.

Anyone else want to make some plans?

You can count me in for all four as well  I have also been looking into SCCA, they have a drivers school scheduled for April 28 and 29 at black hawk farms. This will probably be a good place to get some hands on with instructors. The Milwaukee region of SCCA also holds a few autoex events thru the spring and summer much cheaper and may be fun. Have you ever partaken in these?

i prefer open tracking to autox, but I havent tried autox. If you wanted to give blackhawk a shot, I would be glad to provide some company, work permitting.

There isn't any scheduled in the area at this time. The national page discribing this activity is http://www.scca.com/Club/Index.asp?IdS=003090-D3A5470&x=030|015&~= .

I ran autocross (SCCA Solo II) for many years (see Sig). It was good for learning. After a couple of years I got tired of it. 4 or 5 sub 60 second runs per day and the rest of the time was working the event or standing around. There wasn't the quantity of open track days like there are today. I have been a member of the SCCA since 1978.

I agree, Al has some good knowledge to share. Blue if I dceide to go to black hawk farms I'll let you know. As for autoex I think I may try an event or two, they have them at miller park from what I hear. Would you like to try one or two?

Yea, from what I read once you complete two of these school days you get to take part in regional racing. I'm not interested in the racing part but the school should have somne good instructors and I could learn allot. Minimal passing also according to the rules they posted.

This is a road racing drivers school. You don't road race and don't have a car for it. Road Racing is real racing, wheel to wheel, passing in the corners, following a pace car, checkered flag, trophy and everything. The safety requirements allmost makes your car un-streetable. Plus mods are limited. There isn't any class to put your car into. It has too many mods for Touring Class. And you would have to spend another $40K to run in GT class. Stick to NASA & run HPDE's and maybe in the future TT's. Road Racing is a black hole inwhich you shovel dollar into with little return. Been there, done that. It was fun while it lasted.

I didn't realize that, I just checked their site and did more research. You are right, oh well. Guess I can still do the autoex. Thanks Al you kept me from making a big mistake.

most likely Oct, due to the fact they are not sure if the track in the area of turn 13 will be done in time for that. So they might be running a short track

Whats happening with Turn 13?
they are taking down the snap-on bridge for more track out space there, plus running a tunnel into the inside of the track
