The story of why i will only use FedEx.

BTW, i'm on hold with UPS now.

They were scheduled to deliver a package to me on the Jan 2nd (PIAA Bulbs from Autobarn.com).
I called UPS because my flight out to Hawaii from my vacation was that day, so I asked them if they could hold the package for me at the Dallas Center. They said... NO PROBLEM.

I get there early morning on Tuesday the 2nd, and the package isnt there. Evidently theyre out trying to deliver to my parents house. I ask them if they can forward the package to me in Hawaii, since im leaving in less than an hour. They said... NO PROBLEM.

On the way to the Airport they call me and tell me its against regulations to send a ground package air. Im like fine whatever, just deliver to my parents house and I'll pay for them to send it to me to Hawaii. They said... NO PROBLEM.

From January 2nd to yesterday January 9th. I called in every business day to see why the package is still sitting in Dallas. At one point, they said I have to flly back to Dallas and pick up the package from the center. I KID YOU NOT. Each time i called (5 times) they told me they would deliver it to my parents in dallas... NO PROBLEM.

So the last time we spoke (yeseterday, tuesday the 9th), they told me its scheduled for redilvery on Thursday the 11th. Just to make sure everything is OK, i call in and ask what the status is. (I just got off the phone with them) The lady told me the package is in transit back to the sender in NYC.

WTF CHUCK.

So this is when i finally lost it, and asked her what UPS is giong to do about this. She said they won't do anything, because they held the package for me for 5 days in Dallas (while I live in Hawaii), and now are sending it back to the sender.

AND THIS IS WHY... I will NEVER use UPS again.

The End.

Thank You For Letting Me Rant. So am I the only one whos had problems with UPS or is this normal for them?

UPS fcked me on a 21" monitor, they bashed the crap out of it.

FEDEX smashed up a $3,000 server, then claimed I filed too late (This was around 9/11 and they were telling everyone there would be delays due to it)

So far as I know, both are equally as bad.

I too HATE UPS - and willinging pay MORE to avoid their "service" when possible. I've seen package tracking like this:

NY -> NJ -> PA -> NY -> yadda-yadda-finally -> WA (where it's hold....hold....HOLD) just so it doesn't arrive EARLY.

IMO, they are crap.

well - i will say this UPS < FedEx

I've never had a problem with FedEx - they are a tad more expensive but worth it. I used to work shipping out packages via UPS at the office and granted all the shit was mostly shirts and non fragile things but its true - we played box soccer and treated that stuff like shit.

when i was younger and lived at home over summers from college any computer hardware I had, we lived in a semi-remote area and the drives ALWAYS fucked up delivering shit to the wrong place.... like say $1000 worth of computer hardware to the idiots down the street.

Hmm...interesting. I've always had positive experience with UPS. Once, i forgot to include my apartment number in the address. The UPS guy left a note on my building's front door, I called UPS, told me my apartment number, guy came back 2 hours later with my package.

FedEx on the other hand.....ARGH!!!!! Once had to drive 40 miles to a fedex center to pick up a package, even though there is a fedex center 3 miles from my house!

Never had any problems dealing w/UPS. They've had things "disappear" and handled it well. But, imo, there's plenty of corporate incompetency no matter which carrier you choose - and across all industries, for that matter.

When you are one person, spending $1 - $1000, what the f8ck do they care?? You are insignificant, and when the sh8t hits the fan over your silly little order they don't care. They don't have to care, especially considering the tiny little drop it the bucket it may (or may not) cost them.

Nice rant, though.

Screw DHL, they are CROOKS! They stole about 15,000 worth of laptops we were shipping to a field office when I was with a previous company. They are flippin crooks! Matter fact they took the laptops out the boxes then filled the boxes with crap so it weighed the same and then sent them on to their location. Ill take fedex. They are the only shipper to actually get shit places ontime and aint all fucked up when it arrives! http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o195/jrfilmmaker/censored.gif

I just love how all of them simply decide when they want to deliver things, regardless of what level of service you pay for.
I am constantly having packages listed as "exception" before they even pick them up.

Something will enter the system with an "on-time" delivery date that corresponds to the level of service purchased.
Then, suddenly (on the day they pick up the package), they will stamp it with exception and the delivery date gets pushed off 3 or 5 days.
Then, 5 minutes later, the new delivery date will be listed as "on-time", even though it will be 5 days late!
Then I have to fight them over why I paid $200 for $30 ground service.

Fed-Ex ground is the worst.
I've actually never had a Fed-Ex ground package arrive. At all. Ever.
I had some seats sent to me years ago. They disappeared and are still listed as "in-transit" on their tracking site today!!!
I had to convince the seller to take the loss. That was fun.

fedex has only screwed up once and i use them the most often, so in comparison they are virtually perfect.

I know they all make mistakes, but what frustrates me is their inability to correct the situation. UPS had no desire to remedy the situation, SHIP THE DAMN THING, or even provide a refund to the sender.

I've already sent the sender a prepaid FedEx label. Hopefully the package from UPS gets back to him soon so he can send it out to me.

Jedi,
Ok :) I'll make a thread, but its hard for me to take night pics of lights with my digicam. if someone here who has a good camera (SCSI) is down to take pics, i'll post them up.

we use UPS and have very few problems. maybe a couple more then when we used fedex. but i have personally seen the fedex driver toss a printer from the back of the truck onto the ground then pick it up and deliver it in. he wasnt even placing it or dropping it to the ground, he tossed it, flipping in the air, etc.

we dont use fedex ever

we tried dhl, we had problems with printing the shipments. random letters would disappear from the address. they said it was our problem and wouldnt help. that was the last straw.

oh an i ordered a laptop that was shipped with dhl, it was coming from NYC, and i live in nj, which is like a 2 hour drive, five days later it still hadnt arrived. it took 2 hours on the phone with dhl before the driver came to deliver it. they said he already was finished with deliveries for the day. i told them i could literally walk to NYC from where i live in way less time then 5 days. i cringe when someone ships something to me DHL

wow - thats pretty retarded.

in regards to the fedex driver who tossed the printer. that is an individual idiot who works for the company. my whole beef with UPS is that the entire organization is designed to not deliver packages.

I'll agree with that. UPS usually delivers my package at least a day after originally stated. They used to have a statement available on their website that told you how to file a complaint with them if you can prove it was supposed to be delivered on a certain day and then it wasn't. So, I used to print out the tracking statement when it said the scheduled delivery date while in transit, and then print out the tracking summary for when they delivered one and occasionally two days late. You fill out the firm and they reimburse the shipping cost you paid. I did this at least a dozen times. But I don't see that section on their website anymore.

I've used DHL twice, both times they screwed up. The first time they lost my package and it was "missing" for two weeks. The explanation they finally gave was that it was "stuck" under something in their truck during that time. It was a pretty big box, so I don't know what it could have been stuck under that it could have gotten lost for two weeks. The next time, they got lost and couldn't find my house (it's really easy to find, too) and dumped it out at hte post office, which then meant I had to make a special trip out of my way to go to the post office to sign for it, fill out some form, and 20 minutes later get to leave with my package.

FedEx has only screwed up a few times, but that was probably the fault of the driver since he said he didn't want to drive out to our house except on Thursdays so he was just going to hold all of our packages until it was a Thursday. :dunno: After he did it on an overnight package with forms I needed to return overnight the next day and they never showed up, I raised hell with them for their stupid, lazy driver. My company sent out some forms overnight on a Monday, which meant they were supposed to have been delivered Tuesday morning, and gone back out eitehr Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning at the latest so they company would have my forms by Thursday. Guess when envelope showed up? After 10 p.m. on a Thursday night!!!!

I just don't think anyone gives good service when it comes to shipping stuff.

I never have a problem with UPS. I have a hell of a time with USPS... UPS always delivers at the side or back door while USPS puts it at the front door. We never use the front door. There is a chair on the front porch in front of the door.

I think UPS just lost my new MS exhaust I ordered from Rosenthal.

.........

I've only got the pipe but not the muffler and tips. According to UPS' tracking I was supposed to get two packages...so it said one was delivered, and one was still in transit. I just checked and there's been an 'exception, merchandise is missing. Will contact sender about the damage.'

Excellent

Also, all outgoing packages from our branch are now being sent via FedEx. We used to use both of them, and have never run into an issue with FedEx, and after my whole fiasco... i am never authorizing another UPS package to be delivered from here.
