I think Automobile Magazine blundered bigtime here by failing to mention the Mazda RX-8 in their September issue's cover feature article, "50 Hottest New Cars"..

WTF, how can they miss this??

... and their latest issue, "$30K Mega Test" also didn't include the RX-8, but I can see a some possible reasons why they left it out.. They also left out the 350Z. I suspect the main reason is that the two cars are of the truer, "sportscar" class, although one might argue that the RX-8 could possibly be considered a sports-sedan, being that it technically does have 4-doors, and lacks the power to be a true sportscar, although that is quite arguable.

 

I sent them an email Letter to the Editor two weeks ago about the omission especially given their "rave" review the month before. Never heard anything and the lastest issue only includes LTE concerning the July issue.:p

 

yeah, the magazines are written and published a way in advance, so I suspect LTE's regarding this issue won't appear in the magazine until the November or December issue.

 

My guess is they couldn't get a production version of the car in time for the comparo. Remember how much trouble we in the states (UK still having) getting a car around June/July?

 

It wasn't a comparo.. it was a showcase of all the new hottest cars coming in 2004. They simply goof..

 

There was quite a good review in the Weekend Journal section of today's (9/10) Wall Street Journal. They cited a 0-60 time of 5.9 sec. Is that right??? I thought it was low 6's. But they got the 238 hp.

 

The 0-60 in 5.9 sec is in several publications. IT sounds good to me. Rev it up and let go! ZZZOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM ZOOM.
