Welcome to this week's edition of the Nature Channel. Today we are going to examine a unique eco-system known as the rx8forum.com. This habitat is home to some unusual creatures, some of which we will be examining today in their natural surroundings.

1) Aggressive RX-8 owners.
Scientific name: Tyranasaurus Rex-8.

This species of forum dweller has a physical and emotional bond to their RX-8. Blinded by love, they react violently to any negative comments about their car with aggressive, insulting responses. Identifiable by their aggressive nature and lack of punctuation.
eg:
Poster 1: I like the car, but my gas milage is only 17.5 mpg so far in highway driving.

Tyranasaurus Rex-8: .... u suxxors. y dont u buy a mustang then you stupid moron.... u can kiss my ass... friggin idiot... i luv my 8.

2) Bitter, hate-filled RX-8 owners.
Scientific name: Buyerus Remorsius

The Buyerus Remorsius can be found in every thread on the board. Their presence is obvious from the negative posts they commonly leave about their car woes, regardless of the actual topic of the thread. Their need to one-up any positive comment with something negative is another identifying factor.
eg.
Poster 1: My RX-8 is actually getting decent gas milage. On my last tank I got 22.3 mpg.

Buyerus Remorsius: My last tank I got -28.9 mpg. Also my AC sucks, and this car isn't as fast I paid for and it is overpriced and my oil light flashed when my oil was low and my brother's friend's sister saw an 8 get beaten in a drag race by a lawnmower.

3) Bitter, hate-filled non RX-8 owners.
Scientific Name: Competitus Hatus

This species of poster goes out of his natural territory specifically to taunt owners of other vehicles. Often the owner of a 'competing' car such as the WRX or 350z, the Competitus Hatus would rather spend time degrading other cars than discussing his own. The Competitus Hatus can be identified by his tendency to complain more about negative aspects of the RX-8 than people who actually own one. Most commonly found in threads involving hp issues. Given to exaggeration.

4) Love-blinded RX-8 Owners
Scientific Name: Rose-Tintus Spectacalus

Blinded by extreme love for the RX-8, this species can see no wrong with the car. Identifiably by their placid response to any criticism, the Rose-Tintus Spectacalus would smile if Mazda sold them an RX-8 with 12 hp and no AC. Commonly refers to the car's handling as the defense to all negative comments.
eg.

Competitus Hatus: The car sucks. There is like 5000 hp missing, you only get 3 mpg and the ac puts out air at 120 degrees. And there is 5000 hp missing.

Rose-Tintus Spectacalus: I love my car. The handling is great.

5) The Conspiracy Theorist
Scientific Name: Paranoius Out-To-Get-Us

Suffering from extreme paranoia, this forum dweller is suspicious of everything. Will question any and all proof of any statement, the Paranoius Out-To-Get-Us is obsessed with the idea that Mazda lied to us all as a part of a plot by aliens to take over the government and rule the world. Most easily identifiable for their skepticism.
eg.

Poster 1: Well, it is a relief to see those 1/4 miles times released by Mazda.

Paranoius Out-To-Get-Us: It is a trick. Anyone can see those track slips are faked.

Poster 2: I duplicated those times at the track this past weekend!

Paranoius Out-To-Get-Us: Liar! You can't fool me, alien scum! Mazda lied! They lliiiiieeeeeedddd!

Pretty good, but I'm not listed...

Commonus Sensicus:

Buyers who choose the car based upon performance, price and other criteria, ignoring performance 'numbers' and instead basing decisions on actual driving experience.

or I could be...

Trollus Haticus:

Those people that cannot stand trolls, post baiters, and useless posters that bring problems to a community of like-minded individuals.

:D

I guess that makes you ricerous lamerous.... those that spend lots of money in making their car look fast, with no real skill or intention of knowing how to drive.

:D Good post!

I would say that I'm primarily a Commonus Sensicus. Lately with talks of HP, AC, MPG's, 0-60 timesplits, & cigarette lighters, I have been having a lot of Trollus Haticus instincts .

But occasionally, I go into the defensive tendacies of the Tyranasaurus Rex-8, when confronted by the low life creature commonly known as Competitus Hatus.

This thread is a Mazda conspiracy to distract us from talking about the problems with the RX8.

I'm not paranoid... I know all of these posts are aimed at me.

;) ;) ;)

they're a bit general, I mean for example you could fit an entire continent of owners into one type:

Dontyethave Acarus

Just when I'm about ready to abandon this forum (because of the trolls, the mindless, hostile drivel) along comes a clever, well thought-out post and I'm hooked again. Well done. Thanks.

Curious Herc, on your test drive, did you actually hit the redline through the first 4 gears? I'd bet you and 99% of the people didn't, ergo you/they had no idea at the time what the TOTAL driving experience of the car was or should be.
