Honda.

Why can't American companies match the ingenuity of Honda?

Honda FCX Fuel Cell Vehicle to Go Into Production

Honda announced it will began building a new fuel cell vehicle, with the first Honda FCX model hydrogen-powered fuel cell car rolling off the assembly line within three or four years. Along with unique ways of arranging the fuel cells within the vehicle, Honda also dreamed up an idea for obtaining the hydrogen necessary to fuel this baby.

Called the Home Energy Station, it gins up hydrogen right there in your garage, converting it from readily-available natural gas. Not only would you be able to use that hydrogen for the vehicle, you could also use it in fuel cells that would provide electricity for your house as well. Tanks positioned under the car's trunk will hold enough hydrogen to keep its fuel cells humming for 350 miles. Honda says this system can save 50% on not only vehicle fuel bills, but household electricity, too.

By the way, also inside the Honda FCX concept car at the Detroit Auto Show was a 3D-rendering navigation system, whose point of view hovers at street level when you're turning, but returns to a bird s-eye view for long cruises. If the production vehicle is anywhere near as spectacular as this concept car, this I gotta see. No pricing available yet.

Dummest Idea Ever. Unless of course your house has been plummed for natural gas but nobody hooked it into the power grid. After doing some research the Home Energy station uses natural gas to produce hydrogen. Then it is capable of using and internal fuel cell to generate electricity. Unless they have stumbled upon a super efficent method of converting natural gas to hydrogen to electricity this will not be as effiecent as what the power company is doing. So you electric bill could go down. but your natural gas bill would rise more than (per joule)

The car might make sense but i dont know if this is really any greener than a conventional ICE engine. you have just moved the polution from the tailpipe of your car to the exhaust of the "Home Energy Station."

However since it has to do with hydrogen power i'm sure they will sell and some shortsighted greenies will buy them.

I think all you need (and what they plan on doing) is use solar power obtain energy to use electrolysis to convert water to O2 and Hydrogen. Then that Hydrogen is used to fuel the car. I just dont see why not just stick with electric cars, and use Fuel Cells to Power electric cars.

here is a link of how fuel cell car would run (based on a model car).

I'm intrigued to hear more about the future home fueling stations!

This is great news!!
