Has anyone noticed a hesitation in acceleration when using very light throttle inputs? (such as when in a traffic jam going 10 miles an hour)

eg: I'm in first or second, and I'm just lightly on the gas to keep it going, I press a little harder on the gas - it accellerates like I'd expect, then if I linearly keep slowly pushing down on the gas there's a small period of hesitation where I instinctually lean forward in the seat because the car is slowing down when I expect it to be accellerating more. This is only at very slight throttle positions.

Curious if anyone else had noticed a similar behaviour or if perhaps my throttle sensor is somehow a little out of whack?

Would be nice to have a diag reader so I could see what the sensor was reading to see if there was a flat spot or something in the throttle range.

could be your clutch balancing release your clutch a little sooner.

Holy crap thats weird, I have a mazdaspeed protege with a similar problem ( all of them have it though ) but it happens at 90%-full throttle. Mazda has recently let out a flash for the ecu that added some timing and leaned the a/f out a little and dynos have shown not much peak power gain but up to +20lb feet for 2500 rpms or so. I suppose there could be similar things happening with your car, but who knows.

yeah i get it too, as if you have to press a little farther to get a response sometimes and i lean forward waiting for the car to push but it doesn't. it never occurs for me in neutral, only partially in gear, i can only assume it's just not enough fuel to spin it past whatever it's currently at, say...usually 2.5-3k rpm

I had this problem, too. Didnt happen at first, and around 3K miles it started.

Actually this is a very similar problem to what I regularly experience on my prelude.. I was always curious as to what it was.. since noone else had experienced it that I've talked to in that car.

Of course, I might be talkinga bout something totally different. What happens on mine is when I shift and start accellerating the engine seems totally weak for a second or so and then bam the power kicks back in.. usually when at light throttle.

This is a subject that has been crawling in my head for sometime. Since it was brought up, here is my theory. . .

Probably due to electric throttle not smoothly controling the air of some sort when gas paddle is slightly pressed at low rpm (or at any given rpm). Perhaps it also calculate the rate of the paddle was pressed to compensate for sudden acceleration and then back off due to some sort of threshold? The symptom is more like a choke on fuel or air similar to a big dip in power from an untune engine. I've also notice at around 5.5k sometime; while holding the gas paddle still and rpm climbing slowly, you expect the car not to stumble! But all of a sudden, you just feel like the break was applied or gas was just cut! it usually happen during hot driving condition in traffic for me.

Btw, have anyone pay attention to the high pitch sound coming from the electric throttle even with the engine off but key is in the ON position? is this normal? One day out of curiosity, I unplug the wire to throttle while engine is off with the key ON. When I plug it back and start the engine, I got a CEL and the engine can't even rev pass 2k rpm :o That's one symptom telling you that the throttle is not working properly :p

Maybe it's just me, I'm just curious how well the electric throttle is holding up to the extreme heat under the hood. Maybe this is falling under tolerance of the electric control throtle?

It's either the car becoming too rich, or the secondaries opening, etc etc etc. Could also be emissions or anything else.
