View Full Version : How many will replace their RX-8 with the Mazdaspeed RX-8 if it comes out soon?
jmanolov 09-08-2003, 01:21 PM I've heard from a source close to the company that since all this hp fiasco with the horsepower, Mazda North America is currently working to complete fast and release the Mazdaspeed version of the car.
No bigger engine was mentioned, though. Just boosted engine, better suspension, etc. other goodies.
Are you ready to replace your RX-8 with the Mazdaspeed one in few months? From looking what the Mazdaspeed protege is - the Mazdaspeed RX-8 should be something similar - a great machine to throw around the corners :)

seeing how it took Mazda FIVE years to bring out a Mazdaspeed Protege, I doubt you'll see a Mazdaspeed RX-8 within the next couple years...
jmanolov 09-08-2003, 01:56 PM From what I've heard the car is in that shop already and it is Mazda's top priority Mazdaspeed project right now - and they are working hard. Who knows it might even come out before the Mazdaspeed Miata. I wonder will any mule car be spotted around Mazda HQ during Sevenstock in few weeks?
Just MHO - I think Mazda will be silent this time - I doubt anyone will read anything official about more powerful version of the car before the current RX-8 buyback is over and the Mazdaspeed car is close to release.
bureau13 09-08-2003, 03:20 PM We've all seen what can happen when Mazda rushes to release something before its ready...witness the '93 RX-7. I love mine to death, but there are an unacceptably large number of problems that should have been resolved prior to the first car shipping to a customer. It seemed that they were taking the time to do things right with the RX-8, and they are still having problems...I would hope they don't rush a Mazdaspeed car to production and screw it up...that would be a horrible mistake.

donald121 09-08-2003, 04:08 PM Well, my first question in my mind is, will the market ready for 2 versions of rx8 within couple months? The rx8 is only out for couple months, will mazda release a better version of rx8 so soon that will affect the sales of normal rx8? IF it is true, I think mazda made a stupid decision again.
r0tor 09-08-2003, 06:07 PM i'd be game if it had a sequential manual gearbox with paddleshifters like the M3 :D

j-apex rx 09-08-2003, 10:13 PM they have been working on the mazdaspeed for the pass year.if they comeout with it next year that would be great because of the power issue and then you would have the perfect sport car . 4 real seats great looks and then more hp .they could have 2 different car for different people not everybody like to have samething.it would be like mercede amg and bmw m version .
midniteblue 09-09-2003, 03:22 AM it would be helpful to formally identify this source close to the company.
also, wasnt there someone that posted a link where they are selling the mazdaspeed bodykit? and if so, would it be possible to buy it from overseas?
it would be interesting to see if mazda does indeed plan on bringing out the mazdaspeed 8 so close to the current 8's release despite the hp fiasco. One thing is for sure, mazda is walking on an already thin line...
jmanolov 09-09-2003, 01:50 PM And the guy getting into trouble after that? Nope - no names of persons or shops will be posted from me. If you think more about it you could find out where to look for the car. Also who knows if you have luck you might catch some not so well hidden mule at Sevenstock in few weeks

If I do get an RX-8 I would sell it and snatch up a Mazdaspeed version in a heartbeat.
