How in the world did he get caught and going that fast. He had to have slowed down when he saw the cop. I used to be a cop. The only time I ever cought people going that fast was when they slowed down, were heading into town and, or hit heavy traffic.

His parents should be slapped for buying (or letting) a 16 year old have a car like that.

I'm surprised it wasn't much faster though as the gear shift nob and belt pads are some serious performance upgrades. Good for at least another 5 or 6 mph.

at 142, he may have been able to outrun that cop. not that I'm condoning that kind of behavior. frankly, if you are already 40 mins late, whats a couple more minutes if you drive safely?

Firstly, I think some of us on this very forum have briefly reached those speeds on public (and hopefully empty) roads. And according to the news statement, at that time of night those roads are empty.

Secondly, although the STI is NOT a good looking car, this particular one is far from ugly.

And in closing, smart buyers wouldnt touch that ebay bid, BUT, I bet another kid out there with rich parents will end up buying it, with proof that it is a tad bit faster then your everyday beater.
