View Full Version : RX8 involved in accident on Dela Ave
Shane 09-07-2003, 05:03 PM Story this morning on NBC 10 says that an RX8 went airborne killing a driver in another car and injuring a passenger. Any one hear anymore about this?

OmegaBob 09-07-2003, 05:18 PM Just saw the report on my local NBC affiliate. Apparently, the driver of the 8 was speeding and crashed into another car, killing the driver of the second car.
Though the pic in the article is crap, I saw the whole car on the news report - a Sunlight Silver 8. The reporter didn't mention the 8, only the other car, an Audi.

This link has pics of the 8

BRealistic 09-07-2003, 05:33 PM Can I buy the engine from the wrecked RX-8?
Seriously, looking at the pics- the RX-8 hit the other car and smashed in the roof. Poor people. That is one reason why I have an old FB: I can have fun and push its limits at lower speeds.
biggd29 09-07-2003, 05:41 PM I just saw this on the local news in Philadelphia. Some guy was going 100+ in an rx8, hits an audi and kills the driver, and i believe the passenger as well.
Obviously a terrible accident. But, I did notice from what i saw, the RX8 did hold up pretty well.
Here it is from there website. There is a picture of the accident on it as well.

Shane 09-07-2003, 05:51 PM I doubt you would want the burned remains. My car is Titanium with black interior as well. This is pretty scary. But the car doesnt look all that bad for what it went through. IMO.
Shane 09-07-2003, 05:59 PM Bob was it Sunlight or Titanium? I really couldn't tell.
OmegaBob 09-07-2003, 06:20 PM From the images on the video, it looked like silver to me.
btw -didn't even see the other threads you started - lol
khoney 09-07-2003, 06:31 PM I hope that stupid asshole rots in jail for the rest of his life! That kind of irresponsibility really makes me sick.
Shane 09-07-2003, 06:37 PM Your exactly right. This isn't the kind of plubicity owners of the 8 need. Lock his ass up!
RotaryStalker 09-07-2003, 07:06 PM Who the hell knows how the 8 hit the Audi so speculation as to it's ability to stay together in an accident is irrelative.
Like someone said, I hope he rots in jail for quite a while. Thankfully people are being prosecuted with the full extent of the law for this type of crime.
Stupid idiots ruining their lifes for absolutely nothing.

Rudenauer 09-07-2003, 07:39 PM I guess when the dealer told them the RX8 would fly they got the wrong idea.
Losers. I hope they go down hard.
Zaphod 09-07-2003, 08:05 PM I went on a road trip this weekend along one of those fun, winding roads in the middle of nowhere. Admittedly, I was going pretty fast at times, though never in the presence of other vehicles. Anyway, I noticed the car try to get airborne when I came over a hill. I really didn't think I was going fast enough to cause that, and the hill was not an unusually steep grade.
I don't know if this is a tendency in this car, or just the light weight combined with high speed. But I will certainly be conscious of this in the future.
OmegaBob 09-07-2003, 08:17 PM I think it was an a-hole driver showing off to his a-hole friend. Nothing more. Don't blame the car, blame the jerk behind the wheel.
They announced his name on the news but I don't remember it. I wonder if he's a forum member....
Turbo Matty P 09-07-2003, 08:39 PM so sad, such a waste. People without a sense of responsibility or reason. I hate to say it, but is this darwinism?

Not darwinism since the guy being the idiot wasn't the one killed...
Racer X-8 09-07-2003, 09:39 PM The article says that it went airborne after it hit a concrete medial. It did not go airborne first-off!
The driver is from Vineland, NJ and was with his brother in a silver RX-8.
Does this ring a bell anyone? (Not for me.)
OmegaBob 09-07-2003, 10:47 PM Just watched the 11pm news. The guy is being charged with:
-vehicular homicide
-aggravated assault
Rot in jail !!!
edit: btw - they only received minor injuries. The side impact/curtain airbags were very visible in the video. The Audi looked like the 8 landed on top of it, crushing the cabin.
downshift 09-07-2003, 11:20 PM Maybe they will blame the deceptively fast nature of the RX-8 and not being used to the digital speedometer? BTW, Darwinism is over since civilization began catering to the lowest common denominator.

SHEESH... could you be any more trivial or apathetic? An innocent bystander is dead and two a-holes are still living... and you're trying to figure out what shade of silver the car is??? what's wrong with you?
What society do we live in??? It's saddening.

Not really, it just became much more subtle; and it became an unequal partnership between Nature and Man.
Shane 09-10-2003, 07:03 AM To think I thought there was intelligent life in Southern California. The better part me says not to respond to your ignorant comment. It's terrible that an innocent person had to lose there life because some stupid kid decides to drive down delaware ave at well over a 100 mph. Are you going to argue with that too? Not enough sympathy in my statement? I asked Bob a simple question. If Bob had a problem with my question he could have told me plus he didn't have to answer it. If you have a problem you can go fuck yourself with your FLAMING yellow RX8. I don't need to listen to some bleeding heart asshole from southern california. OK bro..............
Irish_in_a_RX8 09-11-2003, 03:44 PM Very sickening.
DrKillJoY 09-13-2003, 07:10 PM more discussion aobut this sad sad turn of events...
