View Full Version : Time Magazine's Person of the Year saturn 12-17-2006, 12:15 AM It's us! We did it! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6187113.stm Ike 12-17-2006, 12:34 AM Well... it was mostly me. dtorre 12-17-2006, 01:10 AM That was a waste of a friggin time magazine person of the year award.....how damn gay... it should have went to the micro loan guy Winfree 12-17-2006, 11:25 AM It was a cop out - they became so politically correct that they couldn't find any one person in the whole world to talk about so they dump the award on the internet! The whole idea was to find some one (not some all) who had touched the world in a way that rocked history! Yes you can play video games and politics on the net - so give the Award to Al Gore he claimed to invent it! saturn 12-17-2006, 05:07 PM It was a cop out - they became so politically correct that they couldn't find any one person in the whole world to talk about so they dump the award on the internet! The whole idea was to find some one (not some all) who had touched the world in a way that rocked history! Yes you can play video games and politics on the net - so give the Award to Al Gore he claimed to invent it! Isn't that the whole point? Blogging and other Web 2 .0 related behavior has become a a pretty powerful thing this past year. Look no further than the whole mulligan-gate scandal that happened right here because of people banding together on the web to take control of information distribution. It may have been a small ripple in the automotive world and even smaller in the world in general, but things like this have become more and more ubiquitous and powerful this past year. Clavius 12-17-2006, 05:46 PM Was watching a news report about this.. the report said it was us or the Iranian President.. I'd perfer us obviously. And Saturn's previous comment is correct. Hell VH1 has shows on viral video's, and some news shows get their news via youtube and such. Even a few case's have been solved due to moron's posting about their misdeeds on blogs and video's on youtube also. Winfree 12-17-2006, 07:20 PM CNN confirms Clavius claim that it was between the vast mob that makes up the net and the Iranian President - but the Times is famous for making the Man of the Year out of the most notorius character they could find - I would sure like to have been a fly on the wall to the meeting that made this decision... Winfree 12-18-2006, 01:57 PM Chrysler apparently didn't know that "You" would be the choice for the Time Magazine award and put an add on the back cover that reads to the effect that: You may not have been chosen to be the person of the year but we still have a car to sell you.... As one blogger put it. Time magazine was asked to pick a color and they chose "Clear". saturn 12-18-2006, 02:05 PM Chrysler apparently didn't know that "You" would be the choice for the Time Magazine award and put an add on the back cover that reads to the effect that: You may not have been chosen to be the person of the year but we still have a car to sell you.... Do you see me in there too? jeffe19007 12-19-2006, 07:37 PM I agree. At 7,000 posts it was mostly Ike. Especially if he posts like that on all of the car forums. Raptor2k 12-19-2006, 08:49 PM Whao, I'm surprised it wasn't Dwyane Wade. |
