According to the website, for approx. $36K US one gets:
- Unique MS body areo parts
- MS lightweight flywheel
- MS exhaust
- MS brake pads
- Upgraded suspension bits
- Upgraded oil cooler
- A special tuned PCM

I think I prefer the old JDM MS RX-8 ver. II over this M'z Tune.

the older mazdaspeeds where still better in my opinion. the older ones had all of those plus the shorter final gear ratio and etc. i guess this is the best they can do for the states.

Nice seats with an improvement on lateral support from what I can see!! The regular RX8 seats are pretty darn good so I don't feel too cheated. The Bilstein factory coilovers are also pretty cool. Overall its a pretty nice package, but not as over-the-top as I might have expected for a special. I am surprised that they didn't spec the dual cannister mazdaspeed exhaust. That and a different type of wheel and even bigger brakes...Brembo perhaps.

Its always interesting to see what the car manufacturers will pull out of the closet in creating specials towards the end of a cars lifecycle. Other than the seats, and Bilsteins it seems like the rest is fairly readily available. On the Japanese website it looked like they had a very nice gauge set which looked like Defi's perhaps?

I don’t have any hope that Mazda will bring out a true MS RX8. At this rate they should make the Kabura a light-weight, 2700lbish rotary and call it a RX7 and kill the 8. Then make a new design based off the RX8 platform with a 300+hp turbo four and reintroduce it as the MX8. So a lightweight reasonably powerful rotary 2 door and a big power 2+2 coupe.

the center trapezoid with horizontal "wings" is a new rear end theme seen on the ms3 and the Kabura.

Agh, seriously, the ver2 was so much nicer! Had a more aggressive/elegant feel, this seems kind of wimpy for some reason (dont like the rear bumper). Besides that the color match isn't that good for oem. Did they paint the new parts a different color on purpose? Hah.

Also I doubt this would be released in the US. All other ms vehicles have had different rims or hood buldges, etc Zoom could be right with the facelift thing, the 8 is due and these changes (bumpers/spoiler) are tame enough for the general public. ::sigh:: I like the current 8 much more

That MS car was displayed at last year's 2006 Tokyo Auto Salon. How Mazda went from that one to the M'z tune is beyond me.

I honestly do not believe this is officially the Mazdaspeed 8. I have a feeling it's named the way it is because it's just another special edition that has been tuned by Mazdaspeed.
You'll notice in the announcement they made, this thing is called the Mazda RX-8 Mazdaspeed M'z Tune not Mazdaspeed RX-8.

c/f panels wont do nearly as much for the overall weight and handling of the car as some aluminum structural and suspension pieces.

And lets not make a fat pig of the kabura. Up untill now what i have seen is that they were aiming for sub-MX5 weights in the 24-2500lb range.

Not at all impressed. The back is fugly and the 'upgrades' hardly make it worth the ~$36K price tag.

The blue one is 1000 times better looking. And it makes me want to order those wheels even more than I already did.

Unless it's a significant power upgrade (80-100 hp) it's just another body kit...waste of effort in my opinion. Maybe the accountants are running things at Mazda right now.

I hope I dont offend but I am about to be honest...

I keep reading about this Mz Tune Rx8 (Silver) and everytime I read I feel insulted. Like this would be a good enough answer to all of our requests for more performance and or better looks.

I believe if your going to update the look of a car then it should look like it was designed that way from factory. The Mz Tune Rx8 looks like they picked a peice of plastic and slapped it on the front and rear of the car.

The side skirts however do look nice and look identical to the ver 2 (Blue) mazdaspeed kit which is just stunning :bowdown: in my opinion. They actually replaced the entire bumper and made it look like its all one peice (awsome) and not a layered body kit.

If anything they should be offering the updated suspension and ECU tunning to all Rx8's from 2004 to 2006. Any new Rx8's should have this (at the very least...if no other power upgrades are available) as standard equipment!

I think if this is released the price of the original MS kit will go up. :D:

Just for clarification, some are calling the above blue MS RX-8 the Mazdaspeed RX-8 ver. II; but it is not the ver. II.

The MS car shown above was featured at last years Tokyo Auto Salon but was never put into production. The MS ver. II. was a previous production model MS RX-8 in Japan and I believe was limited to just 300 units. The ver II featured the older original MS body kit, the one above has an entirely different body kit. Only the color is similar.

Its like the Prodrive model in the UK, better suspension etc but no more power, (& the Mazdaspeed one is UGLY!)

Now the stupid Mazda 3 MPS has more power than Madas "top of the line" sport model, the RX8. Thats silly, and it pisses me off, tbh.

I think the main reason Mazda doesn't want to go too hot on the performance (enigne mods) side of things is they have the Renesis working good right now (for the most part), and adding forced induction wouldn't go to well with the people at Ford (who ultimately make the decisions) because of what happened with the last generation FD3S RX-7's twin turbo 13B nightmare. The most power upgrades we'll ever see will probably be exhaust, intake, ECU upgrade, and upgraded cooling hardware, which will mean we'll be lucky to get another 30-bhp if even.


And is it just me, or does the picture of the brakes on the MS CX-7 look tiny as hell or what? I would personally like to see some 6-piston Brembos on the MS RX-8.

The reflection from the building on the left side of the car creates a nice line which makes this 8 look more aggressive. Damn I want those rims...

the blue 8 pictured above is what the rx8 refresh should look like, that thing is gorgeous! when i first saw the brake kit on the cx7, ms3 and this rx8 i thought "this has ENDLESS written all over it" and they r from endless! thats cool!

you dont need 100 more hp for a speed8 to be significantly better.

imagine it being 100 pounds less, a 4:90 final drive, slightly wider and stickier tires on slightly lighter wheels, lightweight flywheel and better clutch, decent intake and exhaust work, the much needed oil cooler idea must be kept and some significant lowering and stiffeneing of the suspension and youd have a time attack car in a heartbeat. if they kept it in the 35k range and used the above pictured body kit id definately buy it!!!!!!!!

Not to beat a deadhorse ... but the Tokyo Autoshow blue 8 is probably what the majority of us are lusting after.
