View Full Version : Broadford Results!
yellowrx8inoz 12-11-2006, 05:55 PM OK folks - here's the final tally although some people are still missing...
I declare the winners - Ben got the fastest lap in that hot white Integra, Danielle (Mrs ILIV48) got the best time improvement between the two timed laps - and Adam (black Integra) showed the greatest percentage improvement. Taka was the fastest RX-8.
All of us were winners on the enjoyment stakes!

Actually I didn't do that many laps either and sat out on one session...I had tyres that are fried and I felt sick after lunch.

How was your interior after the spin (session after lunch I believe!) at the entrance to the main straight?
Freaked me out! :shocking:
RXVIII 12-12-2006, 02:35 AM Buy a FORD!!!!
Faster than "the fastest RX-8 in town!" hehe
Mods only ECU flash, Semi Slicks & Sway Bars! Cheaper than a project Mu rotor upgrade!
Go the Ozzie Boat!
Maybe it was the lack of brakes that gave him the edge! (check the pics)
Quote, Unquote! lol
auzoom 12-12-2006, 02:37 AM note to self: never let Andrew cook again!!:(

How was your interior after the spin (session after lunch I believe!) at the entrance to the main straight?
Freaked me out! :shocking:
Funny that everyone (including Kevin) tells me how freaked out they are by the spin, and it didn't bother me at all! In fact I was sitting in the car thinking if I should brake or let it continue. I was in a relaxed frame of mind cos I was on a cool down lap and has just waved Taka passed me. Because I wasn't concentrating, it didn't really register that I was drifting wide into the grass and before I know it I was spinning backwards. Was it spectacular? Didn't feel like it in the car. Guess I have had enough practice of the car spinning at the skin pan with Kev. :hahano:
RXVIII 12-12-2006, 03:21 AM Wayne,
Problems was I was right behind you about to accelerate onto the straight only to see a black blur spinning!
Shit the brake not the gas pedal!
LOL
Good to hear the interior survived and lunch stayed down!
auzoom 12-12-2006, 04:09 AM Isnt one of Kevins funny lines at the skid pan the old Pub line "You're supposed to accelerate through a corner"...Suposed the same can be said of a power slid like that :)
ILIV48 12-12-2006, 04:21 AM Morning for Danielle was a 1:35.7 and afternoon was a 1:31.1. Her smile... Priceless
For me the morning was a 1:17.15, a timed lap during lunch of 1:14.46 to check how I was going and in the PM timed session a 1:15.1 (after Tubby refused to go into 3rd out of the last corner so stuck it in 4th for the trip to the line... complete driver error. Felt like a fast lap, was thinking about the time before coming out of the last turn and fluffed the change. A lesson to be learned there people... Focus! )
A big thanks to Pete for his tuition and help. As he use to race lower powered cars against much higher HP vehicles he wanted to see little tubby (the least powerfull car there with 118kw) punch out a respectable number so put in an extra effort with a long stint in the car with me while everyone ate lunch. It was just Tubby & RXVIII out there on track the whole lunch brake with tuitors. Brilliant! :)
yellowrx8inoz 12-12-2006, 04:29 AM Well Stu, if i stick your lunchtime lap in you'll be ahead of me so I'll use the "official" timed PM one - editor's rights LOL!
takahashi 12-12-2006, 04:29 AM OMG
Stu posted his time. THIS IS THE WORLD'S FIRST!
Well done mate, and Dani too.
ILIV48 12-12-2006, 04:43 AM Stu posted his time. THIS IS THE WORLD'S FIRST!
Ain't the world full of surprises :p:
ILIV48 12-12-2006, 04:45 AM Well Stu, if i stick your lunchtime lap in you'll be ahead of me so I'll use the "official" timed PM one - editor's rights LOL!
Haha... Although I am shitty on myself for fluffing that last change I am still happy with a 1:15.1. Not too bad for the little car that could!
Taka, looks like you are the fastest RX-8 by far? I am just wondering if it has anything to do with the driver or is it all down to the mods????????
Revolver 12-12-2006, 03:14 PM Well done to all. Sounds like you had a fab time. :)
Love the idea of the league table, particularly most improved.
takahashi 12-12-2006, 04:11 PM Taka, looks like you are the fastest RX-8 by far? I am just wondering if it has anything to do with the driver or is it all down to the mods????????
I will leave that to your imagination......

yellowrx8inoz 12-13-2006, 08:47 PM Bump - take a look at the first post for an update. Where are the Integras?
ILIV48 12-13-2006, 09:14 PM Tony in Evo 6: AM 1:22.32 PM 1:18.57
auzoom 12-13-2006, 09:40 PM Tim blue dc5r 1:15 (AM) 1:13 (PM)
Adam black dc2 1:17 (AM) 1:13 (PM)
Ben white dc5r 1:09.93 (AM) 1:09:13 (PM)
Ben was timed outside those times at a 1:05 something. On his PM run he also messed up the pit entry turn by shifting into 2nd so should have been faster.
ILIV48 12-13-2006, 10:09 PM Damn that white Integra was fast!
yellowrx8inoz 12-13-2006, 10:49 PM ^^ Sounded the part, too!
yellowrx8inoz 12-16-2006, 05:50 PM OK folks - here's the final tally although some people are still missing (first post changed too)...
I declare the winners (of the TIMED laps anyway) - Ben got the fastest lap in that hot white Integra, Danielle (Mrs ILIV48) got the best time improvement between the two timed laps - and Adam (black Integra) showed the greatest percentage improvement. Taka was the fastest RX-8.
All of us were winners on the enjoyment stakes! Can't wait for the next one.

But honestly in the morning I had to slow down as a red demon appeared on my tail.
How do I add some writing under my use name?

MattRX 12-17-2006, 07:09 PM Ok, finally found my bit of paper.
On my first timed lap is managed a 1:17.14
After a run with an instructor my driving became a lot smoother, but also a lot slower??
Afternoon run 1:18.50.
I had a good run with mirx*8 (Tim) as I think we were the only two stock cars there.
I did learn the hard way to keep over a half a tank of fuel onboard and also developed a gear selection issue when hot??
The guys with winning blue RX8s must be happy as that is about the new color of my front rotors!!
Thanks again to all involved.
Matt
takahashi 12-17-2006, 09:17 PM What did they tell you to make you go slower Matt?
auzoom 12-18-2006, 12:38 AM How do I add some writing under my use name?Just get a bit of Liquid Paper and write it on the screen ;)
astro 12-18-2006, 04:34 AM I did learn the hard way to keep over a half a tank of fuel onboard and also developed a gear selection issue when hot??
Does that mean you suffer from a fuel starvation problem too?
I think if you do, like me, I think a firmer sway bar should solve the choking problem. Most of the guys that ran hard did have firmer sway bar settings than what the OEM setup is.
BTW, I do believe that your OEM pads are glazed over. I reckon it's time to upgrade your brake pads.
Ohhh, change your transmission fluid too. It makes a lot of difference.
My morning session time was 1:16.22. No timed session in the afternoon. Had to go home early. :spank:

Revolver 12-18-2006, 05:21 PM We saw the turnoff to Broadford. Much closer than Winton.
MattRX 12-18-2006, 09:27 PM What did they tell you to make you go slower Matt?
They were trying to make my driving a lot smoother. Not having any lap timing device made it difficult to see the results of different techniques on overall speed.
Not being able to change down to third probably didn't help much either.
Matt
MattRX 12-18-2006, 09:31 PM Does that mean you suffer from a fuel starvation problem too?
Yep, after braking hard and turning in she just didn't go, she made some nasty spluttering noises and then accelerated off. I don't think I was the only person with this problem.
