Delivery Update

I thought I would call Mazda to see if they have started to communicate with each other after all the bashing we have given them recently - have they hell. I rang up the 8 hotline yesterday evening and spoke to a lady called 'Lorraine' I think?. Anyway I asked her if the boat has left with all of the pre order cars for the UK - she told me she has not had confirmation that it has LEFT. All she told me was that all hi powered cars will be delivered Oct/Nov (It's getting boring now). And all low powered units will arrive end of November/December. When I challenged her that I had seen a mail on the forum from a Debi whats her face - she replied I do know her she works in head office?. the point I am trying to make is that MAZDA are still taking us all for fools, surly the 8 hotline would know if the boat has left - well they are ment to be are first point of contact with up to date info?. Does anybody else have any views on this?. (AnilS you may want to challenge this Debi if she is providing faulse information)

I expect my car in November.

I dont care when the boat leaves, or if they have to fly my car to the UK.

They've said november, and I want november. Otherwise I'll be very peed off.

This is my thought exactly. I couldn't care less whether there's a boat, plane, truck, zepplin with our cars. We have a letter that tells us the month we're getting them delivered to us now. THATs what's important.

I recon the RX-8 helpline is a service provided by a third party Call Centre company. They probably have only been primed to give information to help with making an order and changing an order.

When it comes to more searching questions they probably don't know the answers but in an attempt to be helpful are relaying rumors they have picked up, or even worse probably just guessing in an attempt to keep the person on the end of the line happy.

Mazda should tell their help desk that is the information isn't in black and white or on the screen in front of them they should say 'Sorry sir/Madam I don't have the information available for me to answer that question'.

I'm more inclined to believe Deby G. as she is certainly in a position to know what is going on.

Sexy Rexy, I have emailed Deby to establish any more news on delivery. As stated above By Titanium Grey, Deby is the only one presently that will give me an honest answer. May not like the answer but hey, none of us are perfect.

I await her response.

Anils.

Agree with Rob and Sixspeed in that we now know the delivery month of our order, and we will be given a more precise date this month. This is what really matters.

Mazda have been cautious with the dates and we know some people may get their cars in October.

Yes it would be nice and interesting to know if the boat (or Zeppelin!) has left and when it will arrive etc, but it wont change our delivery dates.

We really need to wait for the second letter and hope it is forthcoming in the next few weeks.

Call me a geek, but I quite fancy tracking the progress of our babies past india, up through the meditteranean, round spain and up to Sheerness.

We would all see daily progress and feel like things are moving forward ... a letter a month when there are only two months to go just doesn't keep us satisfied. (i.e. a GPS co-ordinate a day keeps the doctor away!!)

What about a map of the world with a little boat icon showing where the boat is. You would either have to update it everyday or implement it with some clever programming!

Mazda could do this ... there's a web service available called purplefinder I think that will do this for them (as long as they have the GPS equipment on the ship)

There is yes, but companies do tend to get a bit funny about disclosing this sort of info. They aren't that keen anymore on the general public knowing where their ships/planes etc are exactly. We don't want a terrorist blowing up our ship full of cars!

They ARE on the boat and on their way

Hi all received this in an email from Mazda today,

Will hopefully cheer a few up to know they ARE actualy on their way

For your information, the first shipment of Mazda RX-8 vehicles has left Japan and is still on schedule for the first units to arrive at the end of October as already communicated to pre-order customers. This boat is the first shipment of over 900 231ps RX-8 vehicles, which will satisfy the first 1,000 pre-order customers who have ordered the 231ps version.

Hope this helps

All the best Clive

Sorry Clive, but given Mazda's track record this is not enough info ....

We need to know whose cars are on the boat, when it left and when it is due to arrive (approximately).

Mazda has had a track record of letting these guys down, so we need more info ... it's easy to say the cars are on a boat which will take a month to get to you ... as they ship every week from Hiroshima, they're bound to have sent a few by now.

My personal opinion is that the ship left this week and that we'll see a few being delivered to the really pre-orderers very late in October. For the rest of us I think we'll be waiting until late November ... somebody prove me wrong!!

I'm sorry if my maths isnt too good but I am struggling with this one - how can 900 cars satisfy 1000 pre-orders?? Am I doing something wrong here? Or maybe some of you are sharing? Some help for the hard of thinking would be appreciated.

Hi-power are coming first, this has been known since day 1. Also some hi-powers with green/yellow are coming later.

Mazda recon 80% sales of hi-power. 80% of 1000 = 800 + 100 for dealers.

Spoke to my dealer on Saturday, and he said that the cars had not left on the boat yet, as the EP numbers change to ES once they are on the water so that they can track them.

He believes that the letter we received claiming November as the delivery date is when the boat is expected to arrive in UK, and that we (pre-orderers) would not receive our cars until December Yes, this is hi-power versions of the car.

Hope he's wrong, but wouldn't be surprised, after all he did say "When have Mazda surprised us and brought dates forward?"

OK, so the dealers are going by what the ordering system tells them. So if the ship has left as Mazda UK says why haven't they updated the Order system yet?

Would be unfortunate if the cars did not come until November - since I have a letter from them stating the fact. Then they would find themsleves paying me compensation and giving me a hire car.

Planning to get them to give me a trade price on Friday when I test drive - depending on how good/bad that is I will decide if I part ex. I have a figure in mind for what I think it is worth, and we'll see.

Out of interest - what do you think?

Same here although I know all they will do is phone up the nearest Audi gagare and pass on their price. Mines a 225 March '02 UK car with 6CD changre & Bose. Last time I checked back in Feb I was worth about £22k, less now and depreciating with every month of delay.

I intend to set them up with a part exchange price but start private sale 2 months before as they will bridge me a hire car for free if I sell early.

glad to see someone backing up at least one of the comments my dealer made.
(I posted my conversation on the delivery sticky, as I'm still not sure which is the most appropriate place for this kind of info)
