I sent my letter today, I'm keeping the car.
I was interested in how many of us (who own the car) are planning to keep vs return.

View Full Version : Are you keeping your RX-8? mdmaclean 09-03-2003, 06:56 PM I sent my letter today, I'm keeping the car. Only thing that is going to make me return it is, loss of job in the next 3 weeks. mdmaclean 09-03-2003, 07:13 PM Originally posted by Wing I plan on keeping it. What's with the 12hp?? It did drop to 247 before I picked it up, but that seemed unimportant. Now that it has gone to 238, I was counting the full drop from 250. YMMV 73JPS 09-04-2003, 12:28 AM Originally posted by Wing I plan on keeping it. What's with the 12hp?? Only thing that is going to make me return it is, loss of job in the next 3 weeks. Well, lets hope you don't lose your job Wing! I was in the position of worrying about that not so long ago myself, and I suppose it is still a possibility. But they'll have to pry this eight out of my cold dead fingers... Lets face it: we'd rather have the job than the 9 horsepower, right? Gord96BRG 09-04-2003, 12:34 AM I sent my letter in today - there's never been any question that I'm keeping it! I also need to get my first free service in the next 2 weeks or so - I'm at 7950 km right now! ;) Regards, Gordon gord boyd 09-04-2003, 10:10 AM I'm delighted with car and keeping her. Pete 09-05-2003, 08:21 AM I'm most likey going to keep mine. But they offer us only $500. When they messed up with the miata, they offered them more then that. So today i'm going to call mazda canada and say 4% of $40,000 is $1600. Thats what we should get :) DMK 09-05-2003, 12:04 PM I'm keeping mine. I returned the letter yesteday.... Gord96BRG 09-05-2003, 12:27 PM Originally posted by Pete When they messed up with the miata, they offered them more then that. No, they didn't. $500 was it. Someone elsewhere has posted that some people held out and got $1500 - that's BS. There was no increased payment for holdouts - the offer was $500 and free service, and that was final. I'd be pretty certain that this $500 and free service offer is final, too. Regards, Gordon Pete 09-05-2003, 02:27 PM Originally posted by Gord96BRG No, they didn't. $500 was it. I think i'll be happy with the $500 and free service then :) Bulldog6670 09-05-2003, 03:33 PM I'm keeping mine. I do not know if I would have noticed an 8 HP loss, but I know for sure I will notice the $500 and free servicing. No doubt about that. SirLeNerd 09-08-2003, 11:07 AM I'm keeping mine too! Sent the letter this morning. The loss of HP (officially) has not ruined my enjoyment of the car (or the looks I get etc ...) I hope to have this baby for a loooooong time. eccles 09-08-2003, 11:16 AM Guess I should change my vote. I fully intended keeping mine, and I'm going to hate to see it go, but having been given three weeks' notice on Friday, I think I may need to take Mazda's golden parachute. mdmaclean 09-20-2003, 06:23 PM bump! westie 09-25-2003, 03:49 PM It's going back, read why in the thread---only a few days 'til the buyback....so Good Luck to all of you keeping them, and oh, be sure and buy the super extended warranty! Ron_Jeremy 09-25-2003, 04:23 PM i'm keeping mine ...even though the fuel economy isnt stellar, i love the car. it suits my lifestyle and the performance/overall aesthetics outweighs the negatives for me... Wing 09-25-2003, 08:47 PM Well the poll says "10" returning but I voted to keep mine (can't change it now), voted too early I guess. I know of 7 in Canada returning now. Once Oct 1st is past I'll post another poll, let's find out how many REALLY did return it. |
