My dealer says one of the issues I'm having (story for another thread) is spark plug related and that I need to change 2 of mine... the thing is, I've put about 10 000 km (6 000 miles) on that set of plug since I got them.

I knew the 8 was a spark plug eater but how could two plugs go bad in 10 000km? At that rate, it'll cost me 2 sets of plugs per year. That's ridiculous.

What's your experience with this? Is this fishy or within "acceptable range" ?

Most people with normal use are geting 30-40k miles. Have you flooded it? How many miles on the car? What is it doing?

if you are like the usa.. we have many different spark plugs... flash and recall related... at 30 k miles mine were trashed... but that was before the last 3 flashes...

it should be a warranty item..

I'm in Canada and car has 17 000 miles on it, it's been flooded but the plugs where changed when it was "deflooded" by the dealer.

Were you watching when the dealers claimed to have changed the plugs? Sorry, I can't say I really trust dealers.

I had 25k on mine and they had more carbon than I would like to see but were perfectly chocolete brown.

I saw the bad plugs afterwards but I didn't actually see them work on the car.

Here's an update... got the car back yesterday, they changed the plugs under warranty. Car is back to normal and problems are fixed so it seems the plug were really bad.

That's good news. With how much these plugs cost, free new plugs are always welcome.

Mostly city, but with at least a nice highway run every week. I use the "carbon deposit removal procedure" everytime I take the car out.

i've had my plugs replaced 3 times (my car has 59,402 miles on it)...i've never paid for them...the dealership did it every time :)

they manuel your car came with tells you how long they last (based on the type of driving you do).

for me it says to replace every 36k miles

I've never had a set of spark plugs last as long as claimed on any vehicle I've ever owned or worked on. Sure, they fired once in a while and the car ran, but replacement (not just regapping) always made the engine run better.

I just replaced the 120,000 mile plugs in my CR-V at 65,000 miles and they were in horrid shape. The car runs a lot better now. My wife drives that thing most of the time, and she is what you would call "normal".

I just got my car about a month ago, so I really don't know. But the dealer replaced them today for free! (Part of another recall, I guess)

35K or until i think the car is hesitating then i just change them on a whim. it's $20 and 15 mins.

Aseras, are these the NGK sparks your using for $20? If so, thats pretty cheap. Where do you get them?

We all wish its would last 100K.

I use the $7 NKG plugs. I plan on changing them every other oil change.

Before FI, I was lasted about 20k - 25k miles before I flooded, then got two new leading plugs... so I can't tell you how long they last.

I am now on about 72000km (45000 miles)

All still fine, they say also about 40 000miles, for changing to stay in good performace, with the standard plugs, but they (dealer) say it should last about 60 000miles.

I will do mine in about 5000 miles.

37500 miles for plugs is quite a bit,thats whats stated in the manual, even if they are SUPER KRYPTONITE plugs, lol, in any vehicle i have ever owned i change them at 25K regardless of how they look
