View Full Version : Getting Together
crabacle 09-03-2003, 04:07 PM Now that test drives are going on, Anybody think that it's worth forum members meeting up at dealerships over the next 2 weeks?
I'll start the ball rolling -
Leeds Mazda, Thursday 11th September - 3 pm - Any takers??
Stu C 09-03-2003, 04:27 PM Can't do. I'm there on Tuesday at 11.00am. Work calls on the Thursday, else it might be nice to say hello to a few people I only know by a nickname, an avatar and a posting style.
Stu C
PS Enjoy the test drive
oilman 09-03-2003, 05:58 PM Why don't we wait until Spring 2004. We should all have our cars then and we could have the 1st UK RX8 FEST.
A NICE Country House Hotel, somewhere off the M5 should suit most. An overnight stay and loads of chat & booze!
Lots of pics etc and send some to MAZDA UK!:D
Cheers
Oilman
AnilS 09-03-2003, 06:16 PM Oilman, I'm up for that. COUNT ME IN.:p

Sounds great! And theres plenty of country house hotels around too :)
sixspeed 09-04-2003, 04:27 AM Definately be up for this, though I'm sure as more people buy the cars a club will develop with local monthly meetings etc.
In fact, does anyone know if there is a UK RX-8 club? I know there are a couple of RX-7 and/or Rotary engine clubs. Maybe we'll just get tagged on with those.

Not one to my knowledge. I wouldn't be surprised if some of us forumites become the founding members!

OK - I'll start one! £50 to join (10% discount to titanium RX-8 drivers), bi-anual news e-mail, possibly a free pen if I get enough of those charity ones though the door :)
sixspeed 09-04-2003, 05:11 AM Lol...
Seriously, it would be worth considering, and I agree that the regulars here are more than likly to form the basis of a future club.
I don't know of any other RX-8 related forums on the net that another group of UK/European pre-orders are hanging around in?

RobDickinson 09-04-2003, 05:28 AM Theres http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com which would be a sensible start - not a lot of RX-8 activity on their forums though. This seems to be the forum for rx-8 stuff.
c170673 09-04-2003, 05:40 AM Count me in, I think a Sping 2004 meeting would be good, becaue at least we will have had a few months to run our cars in.
Chris
oilman 09-04-2003, 05:54 AM We could arrange this "off forum" by emailing each other.
Cheers

crabacle 09-04-2003, 06:29 AM I just wonder if Mazda UK would be willing to help out with this, - they have the demographics of the orders so it would make it easier to set up regional venues and locations, also they may want to link to it on their web site?
If there's enough interest then there's enough of us in the IT world to set up an official (or unoffical) RX8 Owners Club web site.
Just to see who's interested I'll post a poll to try to get a feel for numbers.
:D
Titanium Grey 09-04-2003, 07:38 AM I'm up for the meet, and agree about the owners club thing.
Proably worth talking to Clive at Mazda Rotary Club to ask about his experiences ideas, might even be worth setting up as a sub club.
rich606 09-04-2003, 07:42 AM Spring meet sounds good.
A nice hotel at the end of a long, quiet, twisty B road would be good!!

Yep, I'm in too...
AndyPearce 09-05-2003, 02:53 AM Any excuse, me too! :D
whiteco 09-06-2003, 11:20 AM we could have a tug of war to determine, once and for all, which is the best colour, Red or Titanium Grey
(Titanium Grey of course) :D
Girl Wankel 09-06-2003, 05:54 PM Are girls invited too ?
Titanium Grey 09-06-2003, 05:57 PM If you have the car or are interested, of course.:)
Which side will you be taking in the tug of war?
Girl Wankel 09-06-2003, 06:01 PM The winning side of course !

Forgive you for the typo but you of course meant "second best colour"
(After BLACK!!!!!) :0)
mr_digital_uk 09-07-2003, 11:46 AM OK - I went for the red just to get an early delivery ....
If you asked me now, I'd go forthe black with chrome wheels
Lucozade 09-08-2003, 07:10 AM Count me in too, can't wait. :D
sound's good, but the M5's a hell of a way for me on some really crap roads.
(used to work in plymouth and the trip home was always a nightmare)
