Thought I may as well start a thread to house the inevitable piccies, comments, etc from this year's event.

Another successful event and big thankyou's to the organisers and everyone who attended.

I'm too tired to think straight atm but I'll post some comments in the next day or so.

BTW folks, Debbie from Wakefield advised that there are only 7 weekends still open for 2007. I suggest if we want a more user-friendly Sunday booking, we better move quickly on planning for next year.

If you want a weekend date then you will need many more than 25 cars.. The rate for everything on a weekend is much higher.. :o: Realistically I believe that we are going to have to stick with a Monday..

One Vic home via the long route. I couldn't face the Hume Hwy again so detoured via Cooma Jindabyne Thredbo (very swish) Great Alpine way (65km of winding roads :worship: ) Beechworth then home. A great way to end the long weekend. Thanks to all for the organisation and fun had.
Pics to follow later however regarding next year I am sure we can get more people involved if we find a date and fix it early enough. Just for a little imput I suggest we avoid any autosalons to enable the pretty cars to come and play as well (ps how did you go Kall?) otherwise pick a date and I'll be there :icon_tup:

Ah, bad...but better than the response I had last year; there were only 2 weekends available this year when I tried to book immediately after the '05 Nats

Worse, one was in April....and the other....July!

That was the genesis of the weekday Nats this year

Glad to hear all had a good time, and all cars went home unscathed

I'm sure pics are coming. In the meantime (since I didn't take a camera), I'll rattle on for a bit to give those who missed it a flavour of what went on.

I woke up early Sunday and gave the car a quick polish, trying to ignore sundry stone chips and small dents - :banghead: . Met up with jormatom in the CBD so he could follow me to the fabled meetup point (that's so hard to find  :p: ). Played chasings for a little while with a silver F430 but he was way crazier than me and I didn't want to lose jormie.

Most Qlders already at the meetup point when we arrived at 10.30. Freezing cold and raining but that didn't stop Adrian wearing shorts and deck shoes :hahano: . Good to put a few faces to nicknames. Michael was exactly as I pictured, even down to the mephisto mo and goatee :cwm27: .

After some faffing around we attempted to convoy down to Goulburn but some of the, ahem, younger members decided 5-10kms over the speed limit :boring: was too tame and disappeared. Ahh, to be young and have all my points again. :sadwavey:

On arrival at Wakefield at about 12.30 Len and Don got everybody scrutineered and we played with Meguiar's waterless car wash product. The transformation of the Qlder's cars was tremendous and despite many jokes about hearing a scratching sound, it seems to do a wonderful job. Definitely worth checking out if you have water restriction problems.

Eventually, we headed into Goulburn where the Council had closed a street next to the main park for us. We lined the cars up for a show 'n shine but the weather wasn't great. We had a few lookers and were treated to some local oddities like P-platers doing crappy little burnouts (like a dog pissing on a tree) and another bloke who managed to run his Commodore up the gutter and then rip the front bumper off while reversing off it again (I say he was too busy checking out the 8's). A fellow RX8 owner saw the gathering and stopped for a chat - he looked like a kid in a candy store.

MikeyR pulled out his RC RX8 and did his best to run over people's feet. Will's hot yellow beast drew plenty of admiration but I think the highlight was Sailesh's display of his sub-woofer housing, complete with pre-tensioned packing string to hold the plyboard box in place. Those AutoSalon types better look out. :hahano:

By this time everybody had arrived, including the Vics and we had about 24 cars there. Interesting to see what people had done with their cars and even Timbo dropped by to pick up his 'Nats Legend' nametag. :cwm27:

After dodging the rain most disappeared to the pub or back to Wakefield before dinner that night in the Paragon in Goulburn. Pretty tame affair with most wanting to be clear-headed for the next day.

Following day was the track day. Drizzle to rain at times in the morning - not good (except for xatnep, who wanted a wet track to do some circle work). Fortunately, it gradually cleared through the morning and after the first couple of sessions we had a dry track for the rest of the day.

There were three turbo cars there but no S/C cars (we missed you Hymee). The boys from Mazfix ran their car and were very friendly and obliging. dbRX8 ran his beast, also a Mazfix car with everything except nitrous I think. These two cars ran all day without a problem from what I could tell. Kiet's turbo shinka was the third FI car there but it seemed to be experiencing some problems - given the dramas elsewhere I won't elaborate further.

Some hot competition for fastest lap time. dbRX8 (after turning it up to 12lbs of boost :Eyecrazy: :Eyecrazy: ) eventually had a narrow victory over Rod in his stock car and without taking anything away from Dave's driving skills, etc I think many felt that next year we should have two categories to separate the FI cars from the NA cars.

Having made it clear to all and sundry that I was driving Miss Daisy around for the weekend, evil Len saw fit to put me in First Division with the two Mazfix cars and hot drivers like Rod, Roxy8, Sqz, xatnep, Generis, auzoom, etc. When I wasn't waving them through I had some fun but I think I spent nearly as much time looking in my mirrors as I did looking for apexes. :banghead: Indeed, I think the memory of dbRX8's fog lights filling up my rearview mirror with Roxy8 fair up his date as well while heading into the hammerhead turn 8 will haunt my nightmares for a while.

auzoom and Saint were among a few who decided it might be quicker on the grass but luckily nobody sustained much damage aside from bruised ego and maybe the odd bit of trim (hey Rod? :) ). After copping an absolute hiding from everybody with a tongue over last year's, ahem, incident, yours truly kept it on the black stuff and only occasionally pushed a bit harder into some of the corners. For some reason I was a bit slow getting on the gas on the exit from turn 10 - can't think why...

Len took his Polo out and although he conceded the brakes need some upgrading, it's pretty clear from the front straight that this ain't no stock Polo any longer. I'm thinking he's been buying more than potato chips lately.

Dinner that night at the track cafe (as usual more food than you could jump over) and awards were handed out. dbRX8 picked up fastest lap time and Will took out coolest car. A lucky dip was then held with 8 people picking up 5 litres of MRO and in the burglar of the night award, kunz went home with the Hymee grille kit - I look forward to seeing that adapted to his aftermarket front airdam :Eyecrazy: . A few of us also scored a Mazfix rotary oil cap - for some reason Archie was reluctant to cash that in for a turbo kit.

As per last year we ended up back at the villas and drank too much and talked crap about the day that was. Eventually, fatigue took over and it was lights out - for about 4-5 hours when the Qlder's got up at sparrow's fart to begin the trek home.

We brushed the cruise on Tuesday as the weather had come back in again and it was a very boring and long drive back up the freeway for some tired heads. Even so, MikeyR still had the energy to play TLGP with me just before he turned off for home. I kept it even so as not to disappoint but I still think his drag inducers are slowing him down :p: .

Sorry for being so long (and probably boring). Lots more went on and you really had to be there I guess, but this gives you a flavour of the event. Best thing to do is go next year.

Good report, Dave. I reckon there should be a big hand all around for MACCAA (and Don) who put in above beyond, despite no longer owning an 8. I know he makes it look easy, but it's really a lot of hard work. MACCAA already is a "Nats Legend", but now he deserves the title with bar (and chip! ;) )

I had a great time both on and the track. Thanks to all the organisers and instructors they did a great job, especially Len and Don who ran the track events lioke clockwork. Len, now that I know you only drink white wine I'll make sure to procure some for next year.

I had a ball on the track playing with the auto paddles and redlining the beast for the first time and manage to improve on last years time by 4 seconds. :101384_l:

Hey all -
Got home from my trip to your country a couple of days ago, and still am trying to adjust back to american time (note what time I'm writing this).

Had an absolute blast hanging with y'all on Sunday, it was one of the major highlights of my trip. The ride in the turbo'd Mazfix was incredible, especially considering there were 3 adults in the car. Quite unbelievable, the torque difference.

Let me know if you find yourself in Alabama, as I'd like to return the favor, but we will skip the vegimite sandwich -- that stuff is just plain nasty!
