With only three big sleeps to the Nats, it is a good time to post some important reminders and last minute information.
The Queenslanders will leave on Sunday morning to meet the NSW people at the Frank Partridge VC Rest Area around 10am. We should not be late this year as the traffic should be much lighter than the Friday afternoon peak hour traffic we crawled through last year. :dunno:
The Victorians are leaving Sunday morning very early - if you are not sure of the details please make sure that you contact AuZoom as soon as possible.
The crowd from ACT is meeting for a pre-Nats breakfast and should be the first to arrive at Wakefield. I suggest that they ring us to make sure that the QLD people are not excessively late to the meet point. :Eyecrazy:
Sadly, Hymee who has done much to organise the event is now unable to join us due to work commitments. I want to take this opportunity to thank Hymee for the tremendous effort in convincing our sponsors - Mazda Australia, Castrol, Meguiars and Performance Design Australia - to lend support, and bullying our suppliers into a better deal. AuZoom and I are your new hosts for the event.
Here are some reminders to consider:
1. There is no water for car washing in Goulburn so you need to get your car sparkly clean before you leave Home.
2. No speeding please - they are everywhere and we have plenty of time to get there.
3. For those who have a long way to travel, please get to bed early the night before you leave. Discuss the possibility of a short stop every two hours. If you get tired, please do not be afraid to ask one of the spare drivers in your convoy to drive your car while you have a sleep. If that is not possible pull over and have a sleep. There is plenty of time to get there and we will wait for you. We don't want to be on the news and Mazda is keen to keep its customers.
3. The QLD and VIC etoll works in NSW. Just make sure that you have enough credit as the NSW fees are expensive. If you do not have e-toll and you are travelling the M2 or the M7 (Victorians - if you are on the M7 you have missed Goulburn!) credit can be purchased on the Internet at www.roam.com.au.
4. You must have a long sleeve cotton shirt, long trousers (jeans) and enclosed shoes for the track. Wakefield will not allow you on the track if you are not wearing suitable clothing. Gloves or racing suits are not necessary. You must also buy a Wakefield licence and hire a helmet (unless you have your own).
5. Please make sure that your car is safe for the trip and the track. For example, Bald tyres will not be allowed on the track.
6. Bring spare oil for your engine. Driving around the track at high rpm can use more oil than normal.
7. Bring a UHF radio. Aside from lots of fun we use these to ensure that we don't lose any one on the way. I suggest a unit will 1W or more from places like Dick Smith, Jaycar and Super Cheap Autos. VOX with an ear piece is also a great idea. Plesase not that they cannot be used on the track.
8. Goulburn is cool to cold at night (7C forecast for Sunday , please bring a warm jacket for the evening events. Queenslanders might also consider hot water bottles.
9. If you get lost or in trouble please ring me or AuZoom or Mikeyr, our mobile numbers are in the information documentation that you received with your entry form. I suggest programming our numbers into your mobile phone.
10. Have fun and be prepared for a very sore mouth from having an extra silly grin all day.
When you get to Goulburn, please head for the Cafe area to check in. I should be there with the goodies, event passes and other things. I am not sure if the cafe is open at lunch time on Sunday - I will check today and update the post. Please note that Sunday lunch is the only meal not included in the price.
Cheers
Adrian and Andrew
