Might be fun to see who's buying this car

(No, I don't work for Mazda research)

I am 46...mid-life crisis car!

We should do this as a poll.

I'm 39.

Yeah, someone should make this a poll.

I'm 18, my graduation and college start present to myself.

You should start here, the last one did not break down the under 25 crowd enough.

Just turned 39 about a month before I bought the car. I already have the mid-life crisis mobile though (bought a Vette in '99). This is my zoom-zoom daily driver! Just for the record....some of us red blooded American boys prefer sports cars to clunky trucks and SUVs. Thanks Mazda for building fun cars for us!

I'm 62, but my wife is the primary driver. She's a mere child of 61.

40.

Had an RX7 in my 20s, a family and a Protege in my 30s (still have the family). Does that make this a mid-life crisis car? I'm not planning on a trophy wife.

Texian,

Sorry, off topic but you wouldn't happen to have anything to do with the Alamo film that was filmed here in Austin this past Spring? I hadn't seen the spelling Texian until I educated myself on the Alamo during the movie's filming. Texian was the spelling used for Texans before Texas became a Republic and was what the defenders of the Alamo were called.

Were you one of the extras used to portray a defender?

Im 19 and so far Ive got the numbers of 3 very attractive chicks in my area all on separate days after pulling up to them in the Rx8 and chatting for 2 to 3 minutes. One of them was eight years older than me too! This is amazing and Ive only had the car for five days! Well I also have been doing my hair more and dressing better ever since buying the car.I guess this is also helping my confidence and appearance. I think it could just be the car.

71. As I intend to keep this car, like my Acura GS-R and previous ones, for 10 years, I reluctantly gave up the 6-speed. I'm applying for license plate LSTFLNG.

Just turned 32. Single and happy, despite being the world's worst and best tax payer... (I have no write-offs.. 44% of my earnings goes to Uncle Sam and my yearly tax liability is $0, but I get nothing back either.) But that's okay. A tiny cost for living in the greatest place on earth.

Geez. I can relate... to the tax part, anyway. 44, single again, and don't own a house anymore (thus no writeoffs).

Too bad RX-8 payments aren't deductible! Shouldn't they count as a medical expense for my mental health? :D

44, married, wife has become a car nut since meeting me. :) She's looking at upgrading from her '02 Miata in a year of so if Mazda comes out with a factory tubo Miata for the US market.

36 here. My 8 is my midlife crisis car -- I've never owned a sports car before. I've owned a couple of sporty sedans (Audi A4, BMW 330is).

By the way, the link posted earlier in this thread to the age poll works, but the poll doesn't let you vote.

I am 43 and remember when I missed the opportunity to buy the RX-7 when it came out. :( And I also remember when I had to sale the Miata because it was not a practical family car.

Who says lighting does not strike twice in the same place? Or more than twice. Just another chance to have an unbelievable car, what we all will remember. :D

32 with a wife and 2 kids. Traded the family minivan in for the RX-8. The wife and kids are actually happy about this. Now we just need to learn to pack lightly. I also need to get my wife a new car, so I can have my 8 back.

Still saving the mid-life crisis card to get a Ferrari.

Whatcha considerin' old there sonny?!?!?

BTW, I'm 39 and have had 12 sports cars (2 RX7's; 2nd & 3rd Gen)so I just want to clarify this is not a mid-life crisis for me. Don't plan on having one.

And to all you guys that think you're having a mid-life crisis, cheer up, you live in the greatest country the world has ever seen, you obviously make pretty good money, you more than likely have your health. Life is good - - be happy, getting older beats the hell out of the alternative!!!:D

2nd mid life mobile. First was a Miata from 95-99. Now the RX-8 this will stay with me for a long time. Mazda will have to offer me a lot more than what I paid for it to get it back.

Drove out of the parking lot myself about 5 years ago and bought the first car of my very own -- a used miata. Had never driven a stick. Didn't know how. I'll never go back.

Hey, what's wrong with mid-life crises? They're fun!

Soon-to-be 45. Wife & step-kids enjoy it.

Did play the mid-life crisis card to justify the purchase, although the RX-8 is more practical to shuttle the family around than the former ride, an extended cab Nissan Frontier pickem up.
