If you complain about using premium gas, see what the 350Z crowd is up against. There's a possible warranty impact as well (from a 350Z forum):

350Z's USE PREMIUM GASOLINE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

per your manual. Section 9-3 (2003 edition)

Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 91 AKI(Anti-Knock Index)If premium gasoline is not available, unleaded regular gasoline with an octane rating of 87 AKI may be temporarily used But only under the following precautions

*Have the fuel tank filled only partially with unleaded regular gasoline and fill up with premium gasoline as soon as possible

*Avoid full throttle driving and abrupt acceleration

However, for maximun vehicle performance, the use of premium is recommended

Using a fuel other than that specified could adversely affect the emissions control devices and systems, and could also affect warranty coverage.the recent rise in gas prices is not your Z's fault.
you own a high perfromance sports car please give it the proper gas.

(EDIT: Changed the quoting hierarchy to correctly reflect poster's comments versus actual text of the manual.)

damn how crappy is that tag in the fine print. its like chappel walked in the rooms and yelled.... GOTCHA BITCH.
what a slap in their face. glad i dont have a Z.

and how are they going to tell if you have used 87 and not 91? id say that they will just claim you are a liar if you come in with a knock that needs fixing. meaning if you come in and say you never used anything but 91 they will just kick you out.

does it really say this? No, that was the poster's comment. I just reformatted my original post so that's a little clearer. Good catch - it was a little unclear.

^ Doubt they printed that in manuals. A supplemental mailing, still doubt it. I'd wager it is someones post.

But it's pretty funny. Nobody should buy a performance car & then nickle & dime it. So - for your viewing pleasure:

the recent rise in gas prices is not your 8's fault.
you own a high perfromance sports car please give it the proper gas.

EDIT: Paul beat me to it.

I used to have a 300zx and it had almost the same sticker near the armrest. I have to say it worked because I never did put regular in that car.
