View Full Version : OK so some one hit my car
HELAS 10-23-2006, 10:17 AM Thats right... I have falled victum to an idiot driver. I have become one of these people who we all read about and feel for.
Lastnight my car was parked (on the street) at a friends house. we had gone out for the day and we got back at like 10:30 at night. when we rolled up her street, there were a coupple of peop[le on the street around my car and i was like WTF? So ya... lois was hit. The nabour saw the hole thing. a lady had backed out from the drivway accross the street and hit my car and took off. THANKS! So.... I go over to the house and im like "did you just have company leave here not to long ago?" "He said yes" so i tell him that they just hit my car and if he could call them to come back. He "convientley" couldent get a hold of them so i had nothing. she him and I exchanged phone #'s and i said that the nabour had their licences plate so if they did not call that i would have to go to the police. I really didnt have the l.p # but i needed leverage.
so i take off and head for home when i get the call. it was a man and said that it was his wife. she had hit the car and freaked out and took off. once again THANKS. he was appoliogetic and is going to pay for the damages. so i guess something good came out of this. the damage was to my drivers rear 1/4 pannel and rim
I went to mazda this morning and got a perliminary estimate of $1150.00.
People.... shit happens.... it happenns to us all. if you accidently hit some ones car.... stick around or leave a note with your 411.
TomAssBender 10-23-2006, 10:27 AM My sister's car was recently hit while parked outside of her house on the street. It was slammed by a drunk driver and she found her car 40 feet from where it was parked, absolutely totaled. I guess all we cared about at that point was that she was okay. Not that these situations are ever "good," but I think it worked out okay for her because her Neon got totaled and she now drives a Passat.
Sorry to hear about it, but at least you could contact the woman and get your shit paid for. Sounds like everything will work out, I don't think most people are that lucky.
Mistersql 10-23-2006, 10:29 AM What a shitty thing for someone to do. Just because they freaked out they got scared and ran. It just makes me think that they would have never fessed up if you hadn't used your trick.
Last year I nicked someone's bumper in a parking lot. I didn't even hesitate and left all of my contact info. I offered to pay for the damaged paint that I had caused and ended up paying $250. Sure I could have just left and that person would have probably never known when and who did it and I could have saved 250. But it was the right thing to do.
Rems31 10-23-2006, 10:35 AM I was the victim of a hit and run. I was at a party of a friend of a friend's...
My car was parked on the drive way and when I went home, there was a huge dent on the passenger side sliding door (luckily it was in my old sh!tbox van but still). It seemed like the vehicle was backing out of the driveway, turning to the road and hit the side of my van.
The host played dumb and said they didnt know anyone who drove a white vehicle (white paint marks were left on the door). Some people are just don't have the proper convictions to own up to their mistakes and face the consequences...
KhanMotorsport 10-23-2006, 12:13 PM damn helas, that sucks, but at least you managed to get a hold of the other guy and get 'em to pay for damages.
I remember my car got hit just after i installed a new fiberglass bumper and had it painted. Needless to say the person didn't stick around. Bastards.
LMK if you need anythin partswise.
Cheers.
rotten42 10-23-2006, 12:29 PM IT is with great sorrow that I welcome you to the club.
idiots!!
BlueFrenzy 10-23-2006, 01:28 PM Well at least they were nice enough to man up and call you about it.
My 8 was in a parking garage when it got hit and run ... messed up my rear bumper ... no info or anything! Grr
spd frk 10-23-2006, 01:34 PM Its too bad to hear you ar enow a victim Alex. Hopefully everythings gets fixed quickly and properly.
About 2 years ago I hit a HIghlander while backing out of a parking spot. The truck crossed behind me and the driver slammed on the brakes and stopped just as I was backing out. I gave the driver all this info and wound up paying $1000 to get her bumper repainted (I scuffed the side portion), and a rim resurfaced.

Danielson 10-23-2006, 01:54 PM I am so sorry Helas to hear about this, I know how much you love your RX8 !
Good thinking from you, I am glab everything will be find...I am not sure I would of
handle it the same way ??
Sucks to hear Helas.. :(
But you had people around who cares about stuff like this... imagine if the neighbour didn't see what happened. There would be no way to know who hit your car.
I hate it when people hit other cars and don't own up to it.
My drivers side rear door is still dented due to some idiot from a parking lot at a Canadian tire.
Hope everything gets cleared up!
Lates,
TLovr 10-23-2006, 04:41 PM Lois?! :yelrotflm whahahahahaha.
but on a serious note alex that suxs balls man, hope it don't look to bad, and i hope you can still come to the meet on friday
love luigi
Miker 10-23-2006, 08:30 PM Alex, hope it works out. My girlfriend in Brampton sees you all the time at the Timmy's on Sandalwood...nice ride.
I'm terrified every time I come into Brampton to a power centre or a Canadian Tire or a whatever mall. Even parking on the street. Brampton has become the retard captial of Ontario when it comes to parking/hitting cars on the street. You can park miles away from Fortinos with nobody around and when you come back there are massive vans/SUVS who made it their mission to park next to you...even with empty spots in front of the bloody store. And I'm a J.A. Turner alumni!
HELAS 10-24-2006, 07:56 AM thanks everyone. it is nice to know we all care about one-a-other when it somes down to it. About 2 months after my mom got her new car, she was at a restrant with a friend and a girl had backed up into her car and taken all the paint off her rear bumper. she worked at the restrant and was sooo freaked out that she stayed in her car for an hour and a half waiting for my mom to come out of the restrant. Thats class!!! no matter what that damage or the shitty-ness of the car... it is only the right thing to do---unless it is a Lamborgini, then RUN RUN FAR AWAY (kidding kidding)
they guy called me yesterday and told me that he called his insurance company and put a clame in so my agent told me that we are going to do the same thismorning.
HELAS 10-24-2006, 08:00 AM Alex, hope it works out. My girlfriend in Brampton sees you all the time at the Timmy's on Sandalwood...nice ride.

you are tottally right there. Brampton on the hole had become a comocasi field. it is almost to the point that i am afraid to back out of my drive way. next time your gf sees me tell her to introduse herself or say hello.
luigi, you make me laugh... what the hell did you name yours? bambina? or something like that?
lancesir 10-24-2006, 04:02 PM I totally feel for you Helas! My car was hit yesterday too, nowhere near as bad as yours, but paint is cracked and there's a scuff mark on my rear bumper. I only noticed it after I got home last night, so while I can't say when/where it happened, my guess is cuz I parked on the street the whole day. Street parking is never safe it seems. Makes me feel like buying a beater for daily commute :banghead:
YT1300 10-24-2006, 04:06 PM Ouch. Bad luck.
Fortunately, no one got hurt... yet?
HELAS 10-25-2006, 12:55 PM lol hahahaha yes yes this is true. well happy to say that the wheels have been put into motion thismorning and it is all going to start to get better as of monday morning. looks like im gonna be sporting a civic or corolla for a week. booya rental car (in a scarcastic voice) its ok i beat the crap out of rentel cars.

SaugaBoy 10-25-2006, 06:21 PM Hhahahaha, bumper cars, hmmm Danielson and Helas behind the wheel of rentals, that would be very interesting and exciting to watch lol
KhanMotorsport 10-25-2006, 06:25 PM Hey, he didn't bump you, he didn't hit you he didn't smack you. He rubbed you. And rubbin's racin'.

spd frk 10-27-2006, 01:29 PM Keep it going:

"I don't want you spoiled Buck"
lancesir 10-28-2006, 09:18 AM One more:
"There's nothing I can't do in a race car."
I think every racer would love to say that, hahaha :D
KhanMotorsport 10-28-2006, 01:48 PM haha..this is startin to sound more like my 911 track car. I just fixed the centerlock hubs and now i've got a weird shock tower noise comming from the passenger side...why don't any of my cars just stay fixed :wallbash:
HELAS 10-30-2006, 12:10 PM ok so i took her into the body shop thismorning. i was suppos to get a civic or corolla but instead mazda took over the rentle and gave me an '07 mazda 3. BOOYA! Now i have 4 gears and 84 hp of pure fury! Now i know why neo drives his '3 more then his '7. ITS FASTER :D: I'll keep you posted
KhanMotorsport 10-30-2006, 12:17 PM ^ that's FIVE gears of hamster powered fury helas :)
Helas,
I knew you were going to get a Mazda3... only makes sense... How come you RX-8 drivers are so jealous of RX-7 drivers?? :p:
HELAS 11-01-2006, 09:57 AM Eassssy Cowboy. Relics Belong In The R.o.m. Bro
Renesis_8 11-01-2006, 01:21 PM I think you have 130ish hp.. dunno the exact hp on the 2.0L.. hahaha, hey, better than a corrolla and civic! You should've ask them for a CX-7, i heard its their standard rental car ordered by corporate? or maybe only in the states. haha

SaugaBoy 11-02-2006, 05:18 PM Eassssy Cowboy. Relics Belong In The R.o.m. Bro
HAHAHAHAHA
Neo, why are you 3 drivers so jeleous of us 8 drivers, and always leave your 3 at home and drive shotgun in someone's 8????
Do you even have a 7????
KhanMotorsport 11-02-2006, 05:49 PM ^ HAHA PWNED.
I've seen neo's 7 tho and its really clean (neo if u read this, if u ever want to sell ur car...first phone call should be to me :) )...but like all beloved RX-7's....apex seals need changing about as much as a porn star changes condoms....which is why he's always hitchin a ride :P
SaugaBoy 11-02-2006, 07:00 PM That's not the real reason why he's hitching rides, tell them Sham, he dreams of 8's.
I've seen Neo's 7, the poor bastard drove it to Ottawa last year in heavy rain fall, the entire weekend, woops, i mean he left it at the hotel and jumped in an 8, notice the trend lol
Besides, i'm first on his list for the 7 :p It's the lowest milleage in the world on a 7, what is it like 12 kms neo???? straight from the dealer into his garage and hasn't moved since lol
SaugaBoy 11-02-2006, 07:02 PM BTW, notice my avatar, I have a pic of his 7, it helps to remind me that he actually does have a 7 which he always talks about and never brings to meets, so I know its not a fable/old wise tale like Bigfoot
Wow! There's a lot of smack talk going around!
When was the last time we saw you SaugaBoy?!?! Did you even attempt to come out for the D&B meet??? (for the life of me I can't put your name to your face!)
Khan,
Thanks for the props, but everyone knows I'll probably die with this car by my side... ;)
I was cringing the minute we started heading to Ottawa. I knew the weekend was going to be a disaster. But I've been going for the past 4yrs... so I can't let a bit of weather stop me.
Although, after surveying the damage from the last trip, if the weather doesn't hold for next season I'll make sure to hitch a ride with someone... :p:
hobbes 11-03-2006, 09:44 AM Hey Helas,

HELAS 11-03-2006, 09:55 AM well Im glad to announce that i got my car back last night. The body shop did an AMAZING job on all of the repairs and the paint job is phonominal. i couldent be happier with their work.
i actually liked the 3 but thank god i have my 8 back :D:
Sauga; gerat to here from you bud. good to see that you finally climbed out of that ditch you feel into.
Neo, you know were all just pulling your chain bro, we love ya. look on the bright side, that rain fall was probably the first wash ur 7 got since it was built.
hobbs, YEP! :D:
Good to hear you got her back... It's nice to have power again, huh? ;)
Hobbs,
Where you been buddy??
Lates,
YT1300 11-04-2006, 12:07 AM Of course, you realize, as soon as I read this thread three days ago, I got rear-ended at a light.
<sigh>
Fortunately, I had it set to full deflectors rear; just a scratch...
hobbes 11-05-2006, 11:02 PM Me? Yeah, been freaking mad crazy at work and my daughter is teething. I'm also working on X, which I hope that I can tell people soon. Sleep...Gah, one day soon, I know it will happen. Oh and my Ipaq is a no go on rebooting it. I swore a lot that day. Heck, I swear every time I look at it.
BTW why do people here tend to write me name Hobbs, when it's Hobbes? Just wondering. : P
Rain? On Chris' 7!? You know the end of the world is next. You just know it. Hehe...

SaugaBoy: You already know who will be the winner !?
Helas: No offence man, but you already hit something else (resently) with your RX8, maybe I will teach you some move from my Anti-terrorist advance driving course upon my return to Canada ?
Neo: SaugaBoy is right, I saw your 3 more often than your RX7 at the meeting???!
Have a nice day everyone !! BTW 15C today and sunny overhere...
