I too have the electric tape fix on the connector in the
engine bay (near the oil fill cap). I showed this to my
salesman at delivery and he had no clue. Has anyone
heard what this corrects, or what Mazda's long-term
fix plans are? I'd feel more compfortable if I heard the
plan, rather than having a sloppy quick-fix sitting under
the hood of my $30K car. :(

Most of us seem to have it. I think it is where they disconnected the supercharger that gave us the 12 horsepower boost!
