Toadman 10-16-2002, 11:37 AM Well at least you can see the FnF RX-7 and Dodge Charger on display there. :D tribal azn 10-19-2002, 12:05 AM i just got back from the show, and sadly the rx-8 wasnt there. i asked the mazda lady why it wasnt, and she said "u know, we really dont have a good reason" but its gonna be at the LA auto show in jan. she also said latest release date is march/april. so keep ur fingers crossed!!!;) Hercules 10-19-2002, 12:50 AM Originally posted by tribal azn i just got back from the show, and sadly the rx-8 wasnt there. i asked the mazda lady why it wasnt, and she said "u know, we really dont have a good reason" but its gonna be at the LA auto show in jan. she also said latest release date is march/april. so keep ur fingers crossed!!!;) That lady apparently didn't know anything. The FIRST SHOWING of the FINAL RX-8 will be at the NAISA in Detroit on January 5th. It won't be in ANY OTHER SHOW IN THE WORLD until after the launch in Detroit. That includes Birmingham, LA, Chicago, Paris, Tokyo, New York Toronto, Anahiem, Lubbock, Tx or any other place. Trust me on this one. zoom44 10-19-2002, 06:19 PM some people you have to hit with the truth stick several times before they believe you:D Sputnik 10-19-2002, 07:07 PM It's not going to be at the Lubbock show in December? *sigh*.... ;) ---jps miata35 10-19-2002, 08:00 PM I know none of you care, but since the baltimore show is in february, do you thin the rx-8 will be there? And for those of you who don't know, the baltimore show is actually decently big. Its no detroit or chicago, but most of the cars are directly from the manufacturer and some even come straight from the detroit show. If there's a bigger show somewhere else, the show car will probably be there. However if that's the only show at that time period, then there's a good likelihood you'll see it there. Gamera 11-03-2002, 08:39 PM This link seems to suggest that the RX-8 will be at the LA 2003 Autoshow: http://campaign.mazda.co.jp/rx8/?ref= This is a sign up page for a press tour from Tokyo to the Los Angeles show, from Jan. 6 - 11, including a tour of the Mazda Design Center in Irvine, CA. Panel discussion with the RX-8 designers on the 10th. All travel and lodging expenses pre-paid if you are selected (to be announced Nov. 14, not a bad deal for the lucky 50). There are several links to this page from other Japanese auto magazine sites. This of course doesn't mean the official debut won't be at the 2003 NAIAS as other members of this board have stated. But it's highly unlikely Mazda would send Japanese press here unless they intend to show the actual car. And Press Day is a few days earlier for the LA show. No insider information, just my thoughts. RacerX7FB 11-04-2002, 01:45 AM The Mazda Executives told us at SevenStock that the debut showing of the RX-8 will be at the Detroit Auto Show January 2003. rxman720b 11-04-2002, 10:36 AM http://www.naias.com/main.asp?sectionID=9&visitorType=1 Says the first day of show is Jan 11th. I will try and pin him down for a show time for the unveiling at Detroit while he is going for a ride in my 20B RX-7. (He requested a ride at SS5 when he was in Austin again!) |
