anyone? anyone? If you got a stick lying around I'll take it off your hands. I'm not going to buy a new PC until spring and I need some extra memory to keep it limping along until then.

What I want:
1GB stick
DDR400 (PC3200) Make sure it’s not version 2!

Memory Timings (or better):
2.5 CAS Latency
3 Row Precharge Delay
3 Row to CAS Delay
6 Row-Active Delay
2.60 Volts

Thanks!

yes, thanks, I know about all those. There's a Kingston Hyper X I was going to purchase from zipzoomfly, but after looking at my credit card bill I gotta lay off for a bit.

I figured I might be able to hit someone up here and pick one up for cheap. I already tried at my work and a few other misc friends, oh and ebay.

15,000 rpm?

To my knowledge, the only 15,000 rpm drives are SCSI.

You sure it wasn't 10,000rpm....i.e. WD Raptor?

Mmm... 15k SCSI...

I wish I could warrant spending money on something like that. No matter how I cut it, however, I can't.

The price of drives has come down a lot.

I have two 250GB drives, 16 mb buffer each and sata 2

they are spanned in raid 0 for a total of 500 gigs

the random seek time isn't going to be as fast as a 15k drive, but the sustained transfer rate is the same as a scsi 3 setup

hey rotary does that PC have a 1GB stick or 512x2?

If it's got a 1GB stick and it meets the timings I posted, would you be willing to part that piece out to me?

A 40 gig 15k hd doesn't exsist. There are 36.7 (34.45 formated) and the next one is 73 (68.9 formated). There is no faster hd spindle in pata or sata faster than 10k and even those follow scsi rules.

While I agree that SCSI is a great interface, its 20 year old dseign may becoming to an end with the advent SATA 6Gb/s.

SATA 6Gb/s will be on par with Ultra-640 SCSI in terms on transfer rate. That's impressive considering they'll will cost a fraction of the cost. Newer SATA drives also support NCQ which was only seen in SCSI before. SATA has zero overhead as well.

SATA drives are so cheap compared to SCSI drives that this transition may happen sooner than you think.

few hd's can fill the 150mb/s bus rate. Whats the point of the 6g?
