Id like to dedicate this next post to everyone who has ever publicly bashed their RX8 on this forum... more specifically, thoes who have been complaining about resale value recently.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 2005 TiGray 6mt GT with 10k on the odo. Over the past 9 months of ownership (bought it new) I have had NO ISSUES with my car WHATSOEVER! I check my oil levels once a week, and change my oil every 2500M.
I drive the car HARD, and I mean hard. I put my 8 through its paces every day, and I hit redline at least every other day. When Im feeling down, all I need to do is take one fast corner and gun-it to melt away any cares or worries in my world. When I am driving my RX8, the only things that exist in my world are the car, me and the road.
The RX8 has become an absolute passion for me. Some of my most accomplished vacation days have been spent under the hood of my 8 doing something to make it more 'mine' and more kick-ass. There is nothing quite like installing a new mod yourself and then getting in to take a ride and feeling the results.
I have taken part in car shows and car meets every week since Ive bought my 8, and have made some great contacts and friends with fellow rotary and mazda owners. I have a car meet tonight, and as always, Im really looking forward to pulling up in my 8.
When I bought this car I knew it burned oil, I knew it took premium, I knew it DEVOURED premium, but I didnt care. I bought the car because everything that I LOVED about it outshined its weaknesses by 100fold. I can honestly say that the enjoyment I get out of this car is worth every extra penny spent at the pump, and every extra quart of oil I put in the car.
I will never sell this car. I was sure of that before I ever signed the papers to buy it. Have I ever owned a Rotary before? No. Will I ever own another one? Does a 20b swap count as another one? Any way you cut it, the RX8 will always have a spot in my garage.
I love my car. Every single day I drive it, everytime I step out of it, everytime I feel compelled to keep staring at it as I walk away, I am proud to be an RX8 owner. I couldnt picture myself driving any other car at this point, and everytime I see 4+ 350Z's at one intersection at one time (and that happens AT LEAST twice a day) I smile. It reminds me that not everyone deserves a car as special as this, that not everyone can appeciate a car as special as this. And on the rare occasion that I line up next to another RX8, I rejoice in the idea that me and him and the two happiest m***erf**kers on the road.

So to all you who complain about milage, to thoes whinning about resale, whinning about HP numbers and straightline performance. To all of those who have rejected your RX8 Id like to show you the truth...
It is not you has rejected the car, it is the car that has rejected YOU. You were never meant to own a car like this, you never deserved it, and now your 8 is finally kicking you out of the drivers seat. The best thing you can do is leave silently, with dignity, and hand it off to someone who does deserve it. Admit your failure, and move on to pistons, because not everyone deserves a Rotary vehicle.

Sorry dude, but when I see 2 threads a week started about poor resale values, and another 3 I hate my RX8 threads, I figure people would want to see someone who is HAPPY with their rx8.

There is a sticky about a class action lawsuit due to claimed HP numbers.
Im sorry, but no thread attempting to insight a class action lawsuit against Mazda, especially for something like claimed HP numbers, should ever be started, let alone stickied. just MHO

Ugh. Why do people feel they have to stoop the level of fanaticism just to counter other people's extremism that's on the other end of the spectrum. You're both getting ignored by normal, rational people.

If you want to make a thread about how good your car has been to you, go for it. I won't even complain that you should put it in one of the 500 other threads about the same subject. But maybe, if you didn't bash an entire segment of the population it might help people think you're not being defensive.

You missed my point about the classaction lawsuit (my part of the thread anyway).
There has been numerous posts reguarding the rx8 having less horsepower then is claimed when they sold it. If this was true, can anyone prove it in the court of law? If so, then thats a good reason to start a CALS. During the post, it was discused that we could NOT prove that the 8 had lower horsepower, and infact, many times the HP was calculated wrong.

Anyway.. nice post... :cwm27:

There is a difference between being blindly in love with a car, and being very satisfied. As long as the complaints are legit, then they should be welcome. Complaints like those you stated, such as poor gas milage, expencive..... those are not problems with the car and should stop being posted.

My 8 too, will always have a spot in my Garage, sitting atop a wool rug, parked up against 3 fluffy pillows. :) Heh. 8's unite.

You're right, I should say something that adds to the thread.... like...

I really enjoy the RX8's seatbelts. I enjoy how it feels like the 8 is hugging my waist while I drive, and has another strap across my chest... kinda like the 8 is spooning with me while I am driving. Wait... that's kinda creepy... is my 8 molesting me? I'm gonna sue Mazda over this! Sticky this thread!

Yea, thats me! But some other douchebag backing into (on three seperate occasions) doesnt make MY car any less reliable or cause any issues with function, so I regard my ownership as problem free. So what if it was in the shop for 5 weeks at one point, when it was on the road it ran perfectly! :)

Mazda needs to step into the 21st century and include anti-douchebag protection in their cars. What is this, 1952?

well that's one reason why i opted for a lightning yellow rather than a dark stealth. i have no problem with people seeing my car and i always know where i parked it. i've seriously walked out of somehwere with soem firends and said, "so guess which car is mine". a yellow car sportscar really stands out in a sea of white, black, grey and other dull colors. even red doesn't stand out like yellow does.

too much to read so I'll try and dumb it down for others

I have a 6mt 10k on the odo. Over the past 9 months of ownership, NO ISSUES
I'm responsible
I drive the car HARD including hitting the redline.
*mushy sweet shit here, the car makes me happy, no worries blah blah blah pie blah*
I work on my car for fun it makes me smile and stuff.
customizing it yourself is cool (not to be confused with rice)
I meet people with the same car, we are friends, I need a hug.I knew this car would eat money but it's worth it.
I won't sell it.
It's my first rotary. I like to tell myself I'll get a 20b [even though I probably never will be able to afford the engine/install and my handling will become shitty and make it like any other front heavy sports car.]
I love my car and it makes me happy. In my area it's rare (I don't live in atlanta where Rx-8s are 100x more common than 350Zs) and I can't see myself driving different things.
Not just anyone can own a car like this (unless they have the funding) when I see others, me and other driver have a little "moment" but not in a gay way.

At the suggestion of one of the racing books, I've been practicing holding the steering wheel using just my fingers. The idea is to get better feedback from the car, suspension, tires, etc. What strikes me the most when I'm doing it is how incredibly smooth the engine feels as it winds up. It reminds me of what Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear said: "It doesn't feel like it's running on anything as coarse and vulgar as petrol. It feels like it's running on double cream."

Why do people need to praise a car? Why do people feel the need to re-inforce upon themselves love for a car? It's JUST a car. It has faults-a-plenty. It happens to be pretty fun to drive - if previous car (93 Miata) had more power, it would have been More fun to drive than my rx8.

Stop being so defensive about people commenting on the car's failures, folks.

For the record, I can't see myself EVER buying a car because of RESALE.

If it wasnt so funny I might be offended... it is rather 'to-the-point' though!

Listen, nobody get me wrong, Im not some fanatic who needs a hug, I just really had it yesterday. Some guy with a 20 something post count and NO problems with his RX8 was starting another Class Action Lawsuit thread, and after reading that and 3 threads complaining about resale value, well I kinda went off the edge and posted something as polar opposet as I could. It probably seemed a little childish, a little whinny myself, but that wasnt the intention. So yea, Im not a dickhead... I just really like my car, and really dont like people who own it and bad mouth it :)
